I don't eat here a lot - a few times a year, but I've never been disappointed. The sushi is really nice, and has always been inventive and fresh - much better than the sushi I've eaten in other restaurants.
When we come with our young kids, they make an extra effort to make sure everything goes smoothly.
The ownership has flipped a few times over the years, and this is the first time we've been in under the new(est) owners.
I ordered a 3-egg french omelet with smoked salmon. For $10 I got a large, perfectly made french omelet (with a rosette of dill-cream cheese), a nice fruit salad, toast and orange-butter and jam, and home-fries. The value was outstanding, but the omelet should have been smaller or more smoked-salmon added. But for $10, it was more than I expected.
My wife had the smoked salmon eggs benedict. Same potatoes, a leaf-salad (I guess it was lunchier than the omelet), and amazing eggs benedict - the hollandaise sauce is home-made from scratch, and it shows. I had a bite of her eggs benedict, and it was great.
Both breakfasts came with a smoky, spicy homemade ketchup (for the potatoes) that is the best I've tasted.
The home-fries seemed a bit too perfect to have been made from scratch, and they appeared to be deep fried, but that's not a huge complaint. I still prefer Rebar's home-fries.
My wife had a latte and I had a standard coffee - both very good. I would have preferred a darker roast, but no big deal.
We'll be back for another breakfast. And for lunch, and for dinner and drinks.
Hopefully it will remain as impressive.
