Fresh Restaurant8181 Cambie Rd, Richmond
empty restaurant with bland food
Submitted Monday, June 23, 2014 - 10:35pm [Dine in]

we went for the prime rib special dinner on a Friday night at 6:30pm, the restaurant was almost empty during the whole time when we're there. Two of us chose the prime rib & one ordered the salmon. The prime rib was ok in texture but quite tasteless, the Yorkshire pudding & veggie that came with it were pretty bland-tasting too. The salmon tasted like boiled but it's supposed to be cedar-planked. The presentation of food was boring, the only good things I found in this restaurant was: it's quiet, airy & the food portion was generous.

Capstone Tea & Fondue1429 Robson Street, Vancouver
disappointing high tea
Submitted Friday, July 26, 2013 - 10:35pm [Dine in]

Went there mainly for the 2-for-1 good value advertised in Social Shoppers. We didn't expect much for a $10/person high tea, but we did hope for good service & nice environment. There was no service at all for the first 30 mins after we stepped in, then we waited for 20 mins for the first drink to come, then another 10 mins for the drink for another person..... service was really slow, I felt sorry for the only 2 waiters who had to do everything from taking order, making the tea trays, serving the table & cleaning tables ....... Food was just like snacks from canteen, cookies & danish taste like those from Costco, No scones or dainty cakes, but at least the bread of the sandwiches are fresh. The drinks are of better quality than the food. The shop is just an average coffee shop or fast food restaurant, but at least it's clean & not too noisy. Will I come back? No, I prefer to have a cup of tea & pick a cake I really like in a shop which specializes in desserts.

Thai House Restaurant1116 Robson Street, Vancouver
Good value on Robson
Submitted Wednesday, August 1, 2012 - 4:52pm [Dine in]

The dining room of this Thai House looks more worn out than the one in Richmond but the food tasted better. We did not know the buy one meal get one free meal deal when we dined there, no one in the restaurant reminded us either, therefore we did not get the deal. Anyway, we ordered satay, a veggie stir fry with shrimp & roast chicken. All were tasty & fresh but slightly on salty side. Service was quick & friendly. Ambiance was quiet & comfy. I would come back if I want a solid & good-value meal.

Giraffe Restaurant15053 Marine Drive, White Rock
Good food, wrong music
Submitted Wednesday, August 1, 2012 - 4:28pm [Dine in]

Went there for birthday celebration on a weekday night. Ordered 3 entrees, all turned out reasonable & in good portion, came with free & fresh bread. Fish was fresh but could have more sauce, pasta tasted sound of dry & bland, the duck was alright. Interior deco was classy but the music played on DOV was totally not suitable for the atmosphere. Service was quite efficient considering there was only one waiter doing everything in the dining room.

Felico's Restaurant8140 Leslie Road, Richmond
Mediocre Food
Submitted Sunday, August 14, 2011 - 10:08pm [Dine in]

This is the second time I went to this restaurant. I should say the first time (a year ago) experience was better. Food was better & in bigger portion. Last time we ordered the Seafood platter & this time we ordered the Famous platter. The salad was ok, the pita bread was hot, but homous was a bit cold, watery & sour to my taste. The chicken was fine but the lamb chop was overdone. I just ate a few calamari because it's deep-fried & kind of greasy. The stuffed shrimp was soaked in butter while the shrimp cocktail was soaked in half-melted ice water, that made the shrimp look unappetizing. The green beans were undercooked & don't expect a whole roasted potato, you'll have only one thick slice!
Overall the meal was fine with the friendly service, comfy ambiance & reasonable price but I should say the food was not outstanding.

a casual dine-out place
Submitted Friday, July 30, 2010 - 11:01pm [Dine in]

The place has a Mediterranean feel but it's kind of noisy mainly due to its tile floors & brick walls. Food was tasty & fresh, took 35 minutes to come. We had rack of lambs, salmon & free-run chicken, my only complaint was there were not enough vegetables came with the mains. Food was a bit overpriced considering its portion & the setting.

a solid meal

We went for the Friday night buffet. Food was reasonable but I found there were more appetizer than main course. The meats & salmon were overdone & kind of tasteless. The appetizers looked better than its taste but the variety was interesting. Dessert was good, choices were plenty but I thought they would taste better if they were more chilled. The waitress was quite attentive & our emptied plates were put away quickly. Room could be more ventilated for a warm summer day. Overall I think it's a good meal considering the cost.
