An excellent dining experience
Submitted Wednesday, March 23, 2011 - 10:45pm [Dine in]

We arrived at around 8 p.m. and the place was full. We had to wait 15 minutes for the table, but it was well worth it. The food was excellent, with fantastic aroma and amazing flavors. We shared our dishes and each one was wonderful. I had the Ostrich and my friend had the prawns in green curry. It was so tasty. When it comes to service, I would say the atmosphere was casual and laid back and I found the server to be the same. They were non-chalant about things, kind of taking their time, but we were in no rush. Once we ordered, our food came quickly and the server returned to our table to explain the different chutneys available to us. Overall, very pleased with the experience and would recommend it as a unique and fun dining experience.

Pleased with my first order

I decided to give this place a try after reading the reviews and overall, I feel happy as a first time customer. The ordering was simple and to the point. The order was accurate and communicated back to me effectively. I chose to order the "Everything" pizza and I would say that the toppings were fresh and the dough and sauce tasted nice. The pizza was not greasy, it was light and fluffy. This is one of the better places that I have eaten pizza in the Vancouver area, definitely a refreshing change to the regular chains out there. I will be ordering again soon.

I visited this restaurant for some take out and was greeted promptly and offered a menu to look at. The place was very busy with many takeout orders. I ordered and received my food within a half hour. The restaurant looked comfortable and there were many servers assisting customers. The woman at the till seemed a bit flustered and confused about the orders, but mine was correct. The presentation of my sushi was average, it was just stuffed in the styrofoam box, but it tasted alright. It wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't terrible. I don't know if I would visit again, since it was barely a step above supermarket sushi.

Good place to take friends

I took my parents here when they came through the Vancouver area and we ate here on a late weekday afternoon. We were given the option to dine on the restaurant or patio and we chose to eat outside. The tables outside were small, but the service was alright, though it seemed hard for the server to maneuver through the maze. Our food was decent but not really outstanding. However, I think I would visit the restaurant and try something else there. Of course, you can't beat the patio and view, which are a huge selling point. I think the fish and chips there must be good because many people were ordering takeout.

Sometimes when I visit, I get good service, and other times, it is pretty lame. The food and beverages are consistently good here and I really enjoy and recommend the Oyster burger. The prices are reasonable for a touristy area in Steveston. The ambiance is nice with the boardwalk and marina right outside of the windows. There is also a beer store right next door. Parking is good if you go early, but on the weekend, you will be out of luck. A great place to have a pint on a hot summer day.

I had never eaten here before, so we went there for lunch at work. The first thing I noticed when we sat down was the extensive beer menu. They had so many options and tons of unique ales to quench your thirst. The menu had great options and I went with the halibut burger, which was well cooked and very tasty. My fellow coworkers also enjoyed their burgers and I think we will visit them again for a lunch outing.

I have eaten here a handful of times, because I enjoy Vietnamese food and culture. The ambience is pretty dull, except for the shrine area at the front of the restaurant, which is cute. The service is prompt and efficient. The server jokes with you, makes suggestions and makes you feel very welcome.
The food is great, the Pho is tasty, the Bun is perfectly cooked and not at all greasy. The vegetables are fresh and the noodles are the right texture. The peanut and fish sauce sides are both well done and flavorful. I enjoy the appetizer cold and spring rolls and a great bubble tea is also made there. I look forward to eating there again soon.

I took my wife here because we had never been there before. It was very busy with a small parking lot and there was a wait for our table, but it was well worth it. The ambiance was very nice, though it was bustling and quite warm in there. The server was very friendly and attentive. The menu items sounded so good, but we both chose the surf and turf. My steak was cooked very well. It was not the best I had ever had, but it was very tasty and the seafood was great. My wife had the prime rib and lobster and it was also done perfectly and she was very pleased. I look forward to my next visit.

I was brought here by a friend and was skeptical of how this place was going to be. However, it was great and I have returned a few times since. The main thing that I base this review on is the sushi as it is some of the best I have had in the area and I am a frequent sushi consumer. The rolls are large and have a good value. The food presentation on both dine-in and take out is appealing and uniquely laid out. The fish is fresh and you can see the prep chef cutting it up as the kitchen is visible by customers. I really liked my sushi, but they have a great menu of unique dishes including great Japanese and seasonal items. The prices are fair and standard for the area.
The service is standard, quiet and humble and the atmosphere is open and lit well.
I have recommended this place to others and they have felt it was really above the rest as well.

So disappointed
Submitted Friday, January 21, 2011 - 3:37pm [Take-out]

Since this pizza was well reviewed, I thought I would give it a try. It was very disappointing. I just didn't care for it at all. The pizza wasn't very flavorful and the crust was boring and a bit dry. The variety of choices was good and I liked the dips that came with the pizza.

Consistently Great at the Beaver
Submitted Friday, January 21, 2011 - 3:33pm [Dine in]

Not only is this bar the best place to hang out or take a visitor in the area, but the food and service are great. I have eaten nearly everything on the menu over the years and only had one thing I wasn't impressed with. The daily specials are excellent and the wings are solid, only wish they added some more flavors.
The food and beer prices are a solid value. They even have a "Frequent Beaver" program for regular customers. I find the staff there are great, from the servers and bartenders, to the porters and doormen - everyone is friendly and happy to help. It can get busy in there, at any time of the day because the place is so popular.
What can you say about the ambience? You are on the Fraser river and watching the seaplanes come in and out. It is great! One of the best places to relax with friends in the Greater Vancouver area.

The waterfront view makes up for mediocre food.
Submitted Friday, January 21, 2011 - 3:15pm [Dine in]

I have eaten at the Blue Canoe a couple of times, and each time I liked my meal enough I guess, but it sure didn't wow me. The menu seemed boring and uninspired and needed more selection. The meals were small, though cooked well with appealing presentation, but the dishes were priced fairly high. I expected more from a place with so much going for it. On a positive note, the service was excellent, with friendly hosts and servers and the restaurant and view were great.

Standard Chinese dishes as you would expect
Submitted Friday, January 21, 2011 - 3:09pm [Take-out]

I have visited this restaurant a few times over the year and it is pretty standard. Often, I find some of the dishes to be a bit greasy, but no more than any other restaurant. The food is cooked quickly and the service is good. There is minimal space to eat within the restaurant, it is mostly for take out and delivery. The prices are fair and the restaurant is usually busy, which bodes well.
