Real breakfast in Richmond!
Submitted Tuesday, March 10, 2009 - 11:30am [Dine in]

Whenever I'm up early on the weekends I like to have breakfast but hate having to go to IHOP or dim sum when I'm not in the mood for it. It's nice to finally have a good breakfast option without having to go to Vancouver.

I work nearby and eat here probably twice a week, it feels like some diner you stop by on a road trip just to get any kind of food, but then turns out to be surprisingly good. Eggs benny, french toast are good breakfast options. I usually go on my lunch break and get breakfast anyways or the patty melt with soup.

Terrible Value - Great Looking Place
Submitted Tuesday, June 10, 2008 - 8:34pm [Dine in]

I've been to saltlik a few times for friends birthdays and have yet to have a good experience. I've tried a number of things like the chili rubbed baby back ribs (tasted like cheap asian ribs), skirt steak (average at best), and crab (bland). I understand it is hard to serve large parties but that is no excuse for poor service and missed orders. On the other hand the the scalloped potatoes and chocolate ganache lava cake are great, and the drinks are decent. So if you're just stopping by for some drinks after work just get the potatoes and the ganache cake. But if you have other choices for dinner I would go with those. Much better food for your money somewhere else.

Great for lovers of heavy food and big portions

Went to dadeo today even after the mixed reviews below because it's in my area. It was a rainy day today so the place was kind of quite, the decor doesn't look spectacular but it is very clean and comfortable in there. The place looks small from the outside but is actually quite large. The jalapeno jelly that came with the biscuits was quite nice, i ordered the bayou burger with potato has and my girlfriend had the southern fried chicken with jambalaya rice. The burger meat was soft and not overcooked like most places on a good bun. My girlfriends fried chicken order was quite large, a bit on the salty side but good otherwise. I also question the authenticity of this place, but if you're in a mood for a nice big sandwich I'd give this place a try.

Dutch Wooden Shoe Cafe3292 Cambie Street, Vancouver
a breakfast favorite
Submitted Friday, June 8, 2007 - 2:33am [Dine in]

i just started using dinehere.ca and have gone to a few places upon recommendations of good reviews, so i decided to search some of my personal favorite breakfast spots and was shocked to see the wooden shoe cafe had so little reviews.
if you've ever been to any of de dutch pancake house's, this place feels like the original location of what became a franchise. there is way more selection and the food feels more home-cooked then rushed off a line (even though that does mean waiting a little longer). the waffles with stroop (a thick dutch syrup) are probably the best waffles i've had. If u plan on checking it out, i would suggest a weekday as it gets pretty busy on the weekends

Sunny Spot Cafe2543 Main Street, Vancouver
hidden gem of a breakfast spot
Submitted Friday, June 8, 2007 - 2:23am [Dine in]

Sunny spot is a little family run business that feels one, that could be a positive or negative depending on what you're looking for. I personally loved it, the eclectic decoration inside isn't much for eye candy but gives the place a warm sort of charm to it.
Being family run the different members of the family all cook, i'll admit a few of my meals were not as good as some others, but most of the time the father is cooking, and if your meal is cooked by him then you're in for a great breakfast at a great price. There is quite a bit of breakfast selection for such a small place, i recommend the corned beef and hash.
