Love Refuel -
Submitted Friday, October 1, 2010 - 3:30am [Dine in]

I love Refuel. I have reviewed Fuel in the past and am just as excited about its reincarnation, Refuel.
The service staff is so knowledgeable about wine, beer, ingredients and cooking techniques. They are just as excited about the burger as they are about the confit duck. This is a restaurant that has a little something for everyone; beautiful albacore tuna salad, incredible wild salmon, whole confit duck for two, dry aged rib-eye steaks and burgers. I have tried it all and love it! The value is in the ingredients. You won't find better if you shopped at the farmers market and prepared it yourself.

Loved it

Great addition to Gastown. They did an amazing job with the space. Service staff were on point, warm, welcoming and polished. The food was good, really good. Be prepared to spend $100 per person if you want to enjoy three courses, a cocktail and wine with dinner; the value is ceratinly there and it exists in the ingredients and the craft. If you appreciate quality, you will appreciate L'Abattoir.

Go for the beer stay for the food
Submitted Sunday, March 8, 2009 - 9:41pm [Dine in]

The Alibi Room has the best beer selection in the city. I love to go here for group gatherings as the communal tables lend themselves well to big dinner parties. I also like to sit at the bar on my own sampling a selection of micro brews. The staff are so warm, very inviting. I never feel uncomfortable sitting by myself. I love the menu. There seems to be a local focus on ingredients which I am always in support of. If you are looking for a casual atmosphere, a great time, good food and friendly service check out the Alibi Room.

Full of charm! Great Food, Great Service
Submitted Saturday, October 11, 2008 - 2:37pm [Dine in]

I have been dining at Aurora Bistro since it first opened 5 years ago. I can't say enough about a place where you find servers that have been there from the beginning and still have the same enthusiasm for the food. The wine list is all BC and ever changing, introducing me to BC wines I have never heard of. This place is full of charm. The food is incredible. Most of the ingredients are local, so I can never get bored with the menu as the Chef changes it with the seasons. Try the Duck and the terrine. Don't miss out on dessert either; most recently I indulged in the Plum Pudding. If you haven't made it in for brunch you must go. This is a place to have a beautiful brunch with a group of friends. I recommend indulging in a bottle of pink bubbles with the duck bacon benny and sharing some five spice donuts for dessert.

I floated out of La Buca
Submitted Saturday, October 11, 2008 - 2:28pm [Dine in]

I had the best meal of 2008 (so far) at La Buca. We managed to get a seat on a busy sunday night. The place seats under 40 so they really have to turn the room fast. I dined with a girlfriend. We asked for a tasting menu, chef's choice. Each dish was incredible. I felt like I truly had a taste of Italy. You must try their Al funghi Scaloppine and oh... one of the best tiramisu I have ever had. The servers are casual and professional. A real neighborhood spot. I can't wait to go back!!

Great Fish & Chips
Submitted Saturday, October 11, 2008 - 2:21pm [Dine in]

I love this place. I ussually only visit in the late spring, early fall as it is so busy in the heat of the summer. The Fish & Chips are great! Beautiful fish, outstanding cole slaw and the chips are tasty! The service is, what it is. You wait in line, you order your fish and you wait. I don't expect mush from a fish shack in terms of service, except a smile, my order correct and a garbage can that is not overflowing. This is my favorite fish & chips in the city!
