Ok
Submitted Friday, July 30, 2010 - 1:58am [Dine in]

The food was ok. I was expecting it to be a bit better because it's always so busy there. I had the tortilla soup. It was pretty gross. It was the consistency of spagetti sauce. Tasted more like a sauce for pasta than a soup. It had avocado and tortilla chips in it but not enough spice and was gross.

I also ordered the tofu tacos which were pretty good except they were soggy. I liked the sauces they stuck on the tacos. They had some other varities of tacos that seemed a bit weird like walnuts, and pineapple and some other weird items that didn't sound good for tacos.

Also I ordered a side of rice w/ my tacos. They say you can order a side or rice, or a side of beans. I was figuring the rice would have had some flavour. It was plain rice. It was specifically listed as a side order for the tacos. What am i supposed to do with plain rice for tacos? I asked the waitress what am I supposed to do with this rice? Is there anything it comes w/ any sauces? I was def expecting some spanish rice being its a mexican restaurant but it was plain / nothing came w/ it. She brought me a side of enchilada sauce for the rice it was gross. Who eats plain rice???

My vegan friend asked the waitress if their dessert was vegan the waitress said it was and then after they were half way eating it the waitress advised they made a mistake and it wasn't. Not very cool...

My other friend had some sort of a burrito. It was pretty boring tasting. I don't know why people think this place is so great.

awesome lunch buffet!
Submitted Wednesday, November 25, 2009 - 5:15pm [Dine in]

the 7.95 buffet is an awesome deal! The food is pretty good but not my favourite but for value its really amazing! They have a couple of vegetarian and meat dishes there, and as far as I can see they always have butter chicken. The usually offer 2 main veggie dishes and then a couple of meat dishes. I've seen them offer mutter paneer / lamb vindaloo / veggie lentil curry / eggplant veggie curry / tandoori chicken they usually have a couple of appetizers and a small dessert.

i don't find the sauces as rich as some of the other places like saffron. but its such a great deal for 7.95 the food is good but not the best. I also like the fact that they have chai tea and one of the owners? waiters is really nice there too.

there was another one that said he would charge extra if we wanted more naan bread, and i was thinking isn't this ayce? but other than that the service has been really good

No potatoes to be found at a veggie restaraunt!
Submitted Monday, June 29, 2009 - 8:21pm [Dine in]

I thought it was really weird that none of the dishes had potato in them... I guess maybe its to be healthy or something, but I really enjoy curries / stews with potatoes nothing had it at all... I had a veggie curry like dish and the serving was huge.. I can normally eat a lot and I finished the whole dish, it was the fullest ive ever been in my life I'm not even lying.. It was quite sweet like some other people have said... Nachos are amazing lots of good cheese and the best guac I think they put strawberry in it or something

The atmosphere is fun i do like the rappy music in the backround ant the interesting types that come to the place. Its just an interesting looking crowd.

Food and drink prices are pretty good but service is garbage... they won't substitute anything at all, not only that they won't give you extra sauce for salads or whatever even if you're willing to pay extra. The food will come out all at different times for your party. Someones food might come out in half an hour another persons in fourty minutes. I think the minimum you have to wait is maybe half an hour for a meal during a reg time...

De Dutch Pannekoek House2748 Lougheed Highway, #200, Port Coquitlam
mediocre / bland food good service clean atmosphere
Submitted Monday, June 29, 2009 - 8:09pm [Dine in]

I just think that almost $14 for a simple pannekoek is a lot to spend for breakfast. Its a pancake with a filling and no sides. Pretty bland nothing special... I ordered a side of hashbrowns but they're pretty average nothing special. I would prefer them spiced or to have some sort of fun dipping sauce but they don't have anything to offer. As well whats up with the eggs benedict being served on a cracker??!? Well a cracker like thing, I thought they were supposed to be on something sort of soft like a english muffin.... thats a bit odd isn't it? and $4 for juice thats a bit outrageous!!

The restaraunt is very clean though and the waitresses and staff are really pleasant and happy and nice! Great service and I like eating at a clean establishment!

Good food
Submitted Monday, June 29, 2009 - 7:40pm [Dine in]

I like fassil restaurant its a place you can go for good ethiopian cuisine. The service is really good, and the food is consistent. Some other ethiopian restaurants I go to have at times maybe forgotten a spice or something one day and it tastes different the next time. This place is never dissapointing for vegetarian food. It's spiced nicely and they will try to customize orders a bit for you too. I also really enjoyed the red sea cafe (down the road) for ethiopian my fave ethiopian meal was at the red sea before.... but I went back and the food tasted bland the next time! I prefer Fassil overall for consistency and I know it will always be good.

does anyone else think their hashbrowns taste bleacy??
Submitted Monday, June 29, 2009 - 7:33pm [Dine in]

I think the food is ok knowing that you're in for a bunch of pre packaged stuff. The last 2 times I went which was about a year or so ago I noticed that the hashbrowns tasted bleachy. This seemed to be when i breathed out after taking a bite. Regardless I gave it another shot at another location and the same thing I'm afraid to go back now.... Everything else is pretty normal for that kind of an eatery.

Yum consistently good food!

I am always happy whenever I order from Indian Oven. The malai kofta (vegetarian) is awesome and the muttar paneer is great too. It's always good food and never fail. I find the service to be really good and have even seen them adjust things to our likings just by our body language. They waitresses come often, and the people there are really friendly. My friends all like the butter chicken there too a lot of people say its the best butter chicken in town! The veggie food is great too!

No vegetarian food
Submitted Monday, June 29, 2009 - 6:58pm [Dine in]

I was dissapointed they didn't have any vegetarian food at the Kingston 11 reggae cafe. Nothing at all. I asked the lady at the counter and her answer was no. I've never been to a place that doesn't have a vegetarian option. It even said they had a vegetarian meal on their menu. Me and my boyfriend drove in a second time to North Van because we went on a Sunday when it was closed and it was sad that I couldn't eat there.
