A group of friends and I went to Chambar for a birthday gathering. Being a vegetarian, I ordered the Endive and Candied Nut salad which was just alright to me. I wasn't particularly fond of the dressing. I also ordered a side of fries after reading the reviews here and I have to say that I was not impressed. You get a tiny amount of fries for $6 and my boyfriend said that they tasted like store bought McCain fries, and I have to admit he was right.
My boyfriend ordered the Arctic char. He said it was good, but not worth $28 for the 2 X 2 piece he received.
Most of my table ordered the mussels and they were quite pleased with them. It was quite a generous portion compared to the restaurant's other dishes.
Our server was nice, but a bit cold in the beginning. They were also very quick to refill our water glasses and such. And my friend brought a birthday cake which they brought out and cut for us.
The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice. I suppose it was a tad loud, but the seating quarters are very close to one another as the restaurant seems to optimize all of it's floor space.
Overall, I feel that some items were worth the money paid and some, like the fries and Arctic Char were not worth the money. In this case, I would say that I was paying for a nice ambiance than satisfying food.
