Cilantro Cafe840 Howe Street, #110, Vancouver
Another hidden gem, more people should know about......

After many different attempts for a cafe to consistently attract visitors, Cilantro has definitely made a name for themselves. For me, as someone who works in the building the cafe is located in, I could honestly say that I will never lay a hand on any McDonald's, A&W, Tim Horton breakfast sandwiches ever again. But not only that, ther lunch menu is also quite delicious and items that are ordered are quickly made.

My highlights for breakfast, would be their delicious Veggie eggwich, which consists of delicious scrambled eggs, sauteed mushroom and red peppers, served on a flaky, buttery croissant. This can be served on a bagel, crepe or wrap.

In terms of the lunch menu, although they serve a majority of different types of sandwiches, my favorites would be the rotisserie chicken salad and the turkey breast served with cranberry sauce - extremely tasty. They serve a daily soup special, which can either be accompanied with their sandwiches or served alone. The soup of the day itself, is a meal on its own. Personally, I'm a huge fan of here Broccoli Cheese and Cream of Mushroom soups, which are usually made by chance.

The lovely couple that own the cafe are super nice, polite and always smiling. Excellent service thet provide every morning, even to the point, that they remember their regulars favorite foods.

Considering the fact that the prior cafes that inhabited that space before Cilantro's, were not as great in quality, the pricing of Cilantro's seemed a little pricey. However, due to the freshness and service they provide, the pricing is actually right one and is worth every penny.

I highly recommend Cilantro's for your next breakfast or lunch. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

Chipotle Mexican Grill818 Howe Street, Vancouver
Great Fast Food

When you think of Authentic Mexican cuisine, you don't think of burritos, fajitas and tacos....you hope for something more authentically Mexican. Chipotle, however, is a glorified typical Mexican food joint, that serves exactly the basics, we in North America are accustom to - nothing really "authentic" about it.

HOWEVER, just because it's not what I was hoping for, the basics they do serve are tasty, excellent and filling. My favorite would have to be the beef barbacoa, which is succulent and juicy in flavor. That, combined with the common hard shell corn tortilla shell is fantastic. Today, I had the chipotle chicken on soft flour tortillas, which were equally delicious and pretty much scarfed the meal down. Portions are quite large, but since the ingredients are so fresh and delicious, you don't feel like you've overeaten.

In terms of the service, the employees behind the buffet bar are quite friendly, quick and efficient, which makes this a really great fast food place to visit.

Ambiance is nice, clean and modern.

Value is pretty standard at $8.95 per dish. Truly worth it, and the outcome is a satisfied stomach. Although, they may not serve "authentic" Mexican cuisine, what they've got going on is an excellent flavour that makes them the new popular restaurant on the block!
