First time visitor to Fraiche and it exceeded my expectations. The decor is modern and comfortable and the view is incredible - it's located much higher than Salmon House on the Hill so you can see the entire city.
The service was attentive and they seem to work as a team - the maitre d, server, and rest of the staff helped out the entire evening. We even got a visit from the chef at the end of the evening and he answered many of our questions and asked if everything was satisfactory.
I had the raw oysters and they were great though they were on the small side. Friends had the caesar salad and said it was excellent - lots of garlic, fresh anchovies, and cured bacon. The main course of Scallops and seafood risotto was very substantial and tasty. Our friends had the Lamb and Duck and were also impressed - the lamb was especially moist and well cooked. Even the bread they provided was very good - no complaints whatsoever with the food.
Given the food, ambienance and service, the value is very fair. Given that's it's not a inexpensive by any means, it's best for a date night or special occassions.
Decided to give this place a shot as the menu looked interesting. The place looked busy and we had to wait about 10 minutes. That said, like others have said, there appears to only be only one server and he is defintely running around if the place is full (there are about 10 tables). The music playing was also a bit odd, everything from house/trance to rock to romantic songs.
Had the noodle soup and the noodles were fresh and the beef tasty but the soup had far too much MSG or flavouring - it was overpowering. The Chinese Chive pancakes were decent but nothing incredible.
Prices were reasonable and if I would give it another shot, I would go on a less busy day.
Great food for the price you pay - it's relatively cheap, fast and tasty. The menu is large and there is no shortage of selections. The lighting is a bit bright but the decor is fairly unique. Had the prawn on sugar cane which was quite tasty. Also had a combo platter which was quite filling. Would recommend for quick cheap eats.
A great dessert place with awesome desserts and lots of unique flavours of tea. I tried the "Smooth Operator" dessert which was a multilayer chocolate cake infused with Grand Marnier, fresh raspberries, raspberry coulis, and white chocolate shavings. The place is quite small and cozy and it was busy even on a weekday evening.
I haven't been to the Afghan Horsemen since they moved from Broadway and Cambie, but the decor is much nicer and more spacious than the old place. The patio they have would be quite nice when the weather gets better as well.
They have both sit on the floor and table seating available - we went with the floor seating. We had the humus, the potato cakes, and one main course, the mixed kabobs. That was more than enough food for two people and we even had leftovers. Everything was tasty and service was also quite good. Would recommend.
Very fresh sushi, great daily specials, and a friendly staff. We had miso soup, spider roll, an eel roll, bison (one of the daily specials and quite unusual at a Japanese restaurant). All were excellent and very tasty.
Cost is very resonable for the quality of sushi you get. One of the better sushi places in Burnaby IMO.
I was impressed with food at Rekados. I'm pretty adventurous with the food so I too tried the pig ears - it was spicy but is better if you mix it with rice. Also had the beef and chicken skewers which were very good. The Adobo was excellent, and the seafood noodles were also very good, if a bit salty.
Had no issues with service and the decor is quite nice and modern. Price is not cheap by any means, but we also had quite a few leftovers.
