Ambience awesome, Food good too

The halibut burger & fries was very good, the tartar sauce was tasty, the fish was delicicous and the fries had some extra seasoning that made them, extra good. The 'sun room' seating was very neat, we got to see float planes taxi across the road into the water or take off. A little noisy but not bothersome. The seating 'wait line' was unusual, you wait near the door, in a roped off line up, until you are called or beckoned by one of the staff (I imagine this system is enacted during the busiest times); so don't go looking for a host(ess), as you will lose your place in line!

Service and View made up for average food
Submitted Monday, March 24, 2008 - 9:08pm [Dine in]

We visited this restaurant in February of this year, we had the cod fish and chips. The fish was good, but the batter a tad too thick for my liking, the chips were good but not a generous portion. The coleslaw was 'good'. The view was excellent, of course, but where we were sitting the sun was directly in my eyes, there are pull down shades, but if you pull it down, it pulls the blinds down for three different tables. Hopefully our neighbors didn't mind! The service was excellent, our waitress was prompt, polite and very professional. Her timing was amazing, arriving just as we needed something several times throughout the meal. I would love to try some of the other fish n chip places along the wharf though, it almost felt wrong to eat inside on such a beautiful day! Eating outside and wharfside would have been a great experience too...but we were not disappointed with our meal at the Charthouse.

I've tried this restaurant three times and all three times it was pretty good food, not the best sushi I've ever had, but dependable. All three tims I had one of the lunch boxes (the one with the California roll) and I found the battered vegetables, the roll, and the salad quite good. The dressing on the salad was delicious. The batter was light and the vegetables tender. The teryaki chicken was just okay, the meat was not as high quality as other places I have been. The service can be slow, despite having 2-3 waitresses working during the lunch hour. I have to go up for my bill each time, and wait for a few minutes to pay. Overall, a dependable choice for lunch, but not spectacular.

Great hot'n'sour soup
Submitted Monday, March 24, 2008 - 8:40pm [Dine in]

I've been twice and both times dined inside, not take out. The service was good but a little slow as they generally only have one waitress to seat, take order, serve and take payment. But, that being said, the hot and sour soup was excellent, very flavourful, the vegetables and meat tasted fresh and the coconut milk was added to just the right amount (not too much). The pad thai-chicken is the second best that I've had, I've also been to Days Thai (3rd best; not recommended though!) on Kingsway and a Thai restaurant on Gilmore and Hastings (recommended!!! sorry, can't remember name).

Mutter paneer recommended
Submitted Monday, March 24, 2008 - 8:34pm [Dine in]

I have tried several other Indian restaurants in Surrey and found this one to be my favourite. While I was waiting for a take out order I was given a mango shake 'on the house' while I waited. The mutter paneer is what I ordered, they were generous with the paneer and the creme, this is how I prefer it. The naan was delicious, not too doughy, not underdone. The vegetable and fish pakora are also very well done, served with salad (unlike other, cheaper restaurants). The spice on the fish pakora was very well done, again compared to other restaurants that I have eaten at. The green chile chutney is also very good and goes well with the deep-fried appetizers.

Chow mein is best
Submitted Monday, March 24, 2008 - 8:27pm [Dine in]

I have ordered the "dinner for 1" combo B. I think that the chow mein is the best of the three dishes in this combo. The beef chop suey has too much sauce, the baby bok choy is often not trimmed properly with the hardened ends still on. The sweet and sour pork is hit and miss, some pieces taste good, some have a funny taste and are tough. The service is fast, but they can be pushy on the phone when you are ordering; probably because they are pretty busy.

Disappointed!
Submitted Monday, March 24, 2008 - 8:19pm [Dine in]

I have eaten at two other Thai restaurants, one in Pitt Meadows and one off Hastings in North Bby, and they were both A LOT better than the food I bought from this restaurant tonite. I ordered the pad thai chicken, hot n sour soup (coconut) and spring rolls. There was very little taste to the pad thai, very little sauce, the noodles were too thick, the tofu tasted awful, and they were not overly generous with the nuts or sprouts. The hot n sour soup was decent. The spring rolls were cooked in oil that was not fresh.
