Overpriced and unimpressive

I'm a huge fan of Mexican food, and although the menu does have a certain degree of mexican flare, it definitely isn't a place to sample the rich cuisine I expected at this price range. How two small, less than savory tacos cost over $16.00 is beyond me. It appears to me the only thing that remotely matches the price of the menu is the ambience, which is pleasant, but not anything special. Regardless, the ambience of any restaurant should never be its best quality.

The service could use a boost

Perhaps because the servers are students with greener pastures ahead, they don't put their heart and soul into their current job. Not to say the service is awful, but I wouldn't call it anything special either. I would rank the food 3.5 if I could, but I rounded down to 3 (instead of up to 4) because on several occasions the food has taken FAR too long to arrive. This usually isn't the servers fault, and I place blame on an (at times) unorganized kitchen staff. Having said that, I've had good experiences at Club Ilia and I will go again.

There is a reason the lineup is 45-90mins long

The lineup says it all, folks. The lineup says it all.

I have a very tough time choosing what to have, as the menu is exhaustive and there are so many great dishes. I've never been able to finish a dish, although I've tried very hard. This place is a classic lower-mainland restaurant with a huge reputation and even bigger servings. I'm not arguing that Anton's is the best Italian restaurant around, but the overall experience and the tasty dishes make this a very obvious choice for a great dinner out.

OK, I love Sushi and Japanese food, but I don't want to feel like I'm in the middle of a Tokyo rush-hour when I'm eating it.

The servers treat you like cattle: no eye contact, no smiles, they just drop the food off and go on to the next order/table.

I saw one of the cooks grope a fried meat order with his hands, and mixed it up on the plate. It was literally the single-most disgusting thing I have ever seen a cook do at a restaurant. Yes, Sushi is made with hands, but it's an art-form and is hygenic when done right. The meat and sauce this guy was handling was all over his hands and running though his fingers and pouring out the side - directly onto the bed of noodles for immediate delivery to the table.

The tables and seats were dirty, and I was too scared to use the bathroom.

This place is designed for high-throughput service. Do not expect a pleasant experience.
