It's a shame but the fish at Ki is pretty terrible. The colour is not good and the taste is awful. Specialty rolls are knock offs of other sushi restaurants. Everything is dirt cheap but the quality is not there. Friendly and quick service by cheerful staff in a nice atmosphere but in the end - not worth it.
I am so happy to have discovered this place. They make amazing gluten free goodies, breads and buns. They also take small orders so if you want to stock up it's easy to do. They make the most amazing potato flour bread with flax or onion. Both are delicious. Buns are made on Thurs and Saturdays only. Gluten free goodies are usually available on Saturdays as well. Open Sunday. A celiacs best friend!
Despite being bright yellow - this place is not a happy place to be. Three unhappy people working in a line, which is how I guess it got it's name. Nobody looks like they want to be there. The young man who worked there, I guess maybe the son, got yelled at a bunch while I was there. Depressing. The food is cheap, but it tastes it. Go across the street to Tokyo express, pay an extra fifty cents and get happy service with a nice atmosphere.
The best thing about this place is they have little enclaves where twosomes can sit. Nice friendly pub atmosphere. Only been once and they seemed a little understaffed but our waitress tried her hardest. They have great daily specials here that are quite filling and have a good drink selection at a good price.
Big Ridge Brewing Co. is a good old standby. Good food at decent prices with friendly and attentive service. My only complaint would be that all the non-beer liquor seems a little pricey. Great pub atmosphere for games. They have a fantastic student deal on Thursdays 10% off food and drinks in the pub!
This place is across the plaza from Safeway in Newton. My husband and I went once before in the summer when it first opened and had a similar experience. I gave them another chance today. The service is extremely unfriendly. When I gave my order I didn't even get an acknowledgment back or a single smile the entire time I was there on both occasions. The waitress/cook came to serve the food in a filthy apron.
When my husband and I went for the first time last summer we waited about 45 min. for our food and it wasn't even that busy. Everyone was served out of order, and even though our order was simple rolls, people that came in 20 min. after us were served before we were with out an apology or explanation.
Today when I went it took me 20 min to get a tuna and salmon roll with miso soup and tea. I was the only person in the restaurant at the time. I didn't get my tea or miso soup first while I was waiting, it came with the rest of the food. The sushi itself is extremely bland, sticky and not well rolled. The miso didn't have miso in it I think. The fish in the rolls was the smallest I've ever seen. And the price does not reflect that - $2.95 for a salmon/tuna roll!! Considering the microscopic and not tasty fish inside - not worth it!
On a petty note - all the magazines were crazy old - like from 2002. This place just opened up in the summer! Very strange.
Like the title says - go somewhere else! Cross the street and go to Tokyo Ken's or Tokyo Express or some other place then this place.
This place is a gem. Two for one appetizers between 4:00pm-6:00pm. Delicious food, great decor and wonderful service. Every time I visit it's always pretty empty, but don't let that throw you off. A great Mexican restaurant where the staff is friendly and keeps the free house made chips and salsa flowing.
I eat here quite often and there are many other regulars that come in. Try the honey roll! Sashimi in yummy large pieces. Great prices for what you get. Friendly service. The decor is kind of funny. It looks like an ABC's that went under or something and then became a Japanese restaurant. For good quick food with a smile though, this is the place in White Rock!
