cute little place... we were lucky to be seated inside the restaurant, thus could enjoy the unique decor. portions were abundant and food was really yummy - homemade style, not the fancy upscale typical french food type. and surprisingly not too heavy. service was fun, dynamic and had character. desserts were delicious. all in all, a very lovely experience. worth going back and definitely will recommend!

MMM-azing DOV

Been meaning to try because we've been to the sister restaurant Italian Kitchen a few times and were always happy with it. Same goes with Glowbal. I had the DOV menu, salmon to start, lamb for main, chocolate cake for dessert, and sangria. The drink was a bit blah.. too much ice and not enough flavour, I find. Everything else was really good and satisfying, though. I like this a bit more than IK because the food at IK is too salty I find. The portion is pretty big even for DOV, I was full before dessert. Chocolate cake was so rich and yummy! Sort of halfway through dessert, one of the chefs brought out a bowl of mini donuts, that were supposed to go with the cake, I think, but they came late. Nonetheless, they were so so good.. light and sugary and warm and oh-so-fluffy. Nothing bad to say about the food tonight, service was excellent too. A very nice experience to end this year's DOV. Definitely going back.

Been here several times and expectations were always met. Everyone is friendly and energetic. The ambiance is nice, although the noise level was a little too much for me. I like the open kitchen concept and different types of fish hung on the wall. Their daily sheet selections are the items to go for. I find the items from their regular menu "unattractive". Sablefish was the best ever! Salmon was yummy too! And I looooove their creme brulee and lemon tart!!! Seafood quality is only second to The Cannery, but far more affordable. Definitely worth going for special occasions.

Mixed decisions

The DOV menu sounded pretty interesting so we decided to try. I had the ravioli, which I thought was good, although small. The sauce was creamy and delicious. Then the duck. Having only had Chinese-style ducks, this one tasted pretty weird. I didn't really mind it, but the SO thought it was really bad. Dessert was the profiteroles, which were cutely presented, but tasted ordinary. The chocolate sauce hardened and wasn't sauce after all. The SO had the salad to start, which I thought was pretty standard, although the cheese beignet was an interesting touch. His salmon was okay, Season's was better, in both size and taste. The salmon was definitely better than the duck. He had the apple tart for dessert, which was pretty good, especially with the ice cream. I thought the food was ok. The $38 value derives from the friendly service, the pretty ambiance and the view of the water.

Appetizers: Trout was tasty, good starter's portion. Veloute tasted like canned soup.

Mains: Portions were bigger than we thought. Salmon was good, not great. Steak was not bad, but again, have had better steaks elsewhere. Could've had different types of veggies than just carrots.

Dessert: Tiny piece!! They call it layered chocolate cake, didn't see the layers. Cake was too dry. Poached pears looked more like cut up canned stuff. Lemon tart was at least better, but waaaaay too tart.

Service: Water was rarely topped up. Server did a good job explaining the dishes and was very polite. Manager charged the wrong amounts to our credit cards, but he was more interested in telling us to go because there was another party waiting, than to properly take care of our bills.

A friend recommended this place, so we went with a group. We were the first customers so seating was not a problem. The place was pretty small and gets packed up pretty fast, coming in early is probably a good idea. The mushroom and spinach scrambles were amazing... rich, ample portions, not too much not too small either... good size to start the day. The eggs benny were great... a bit too strong tasting for my liking but nonetheless very yummy. Sausages were a little dry but everything else was delicious. Our server was very friendly... coffee and water was frequently topped up. Will definitely go back and recommend this place to others.
