Decent food, but should be cheaper
Submitted Thursday, September 10, 2009 - 4:11pm [Dine in]

The food here is decent, especially since it's paradoxically hard to find good (or any) Persian food in Vancouver nowadays.
However, it's too expensive for the ambiance and type of meal it is. It should be $6-$10, not in the $10-$20 range.
The store itself is fairly priced, and a good place to try out Persian foods and deserts.

Good North Van Sushi
Submitted Sunday, May 24, 2009 - 11:58pm [Dine in]

My friends and I were planning to go for lunch at Honjin. Turns out they only are open for dinner on Sundays, so we tried out Aka Tom-Bo. We're glad we did because it's a nice place for sushi on the North Shore. Honjin may have a slightly better ambiance, but the sushi here was just as good, and the service was great. They also have an outdoor section here for good summer weather. Got the Deal 12, and was quite satisfied, a good lunch for a decent price (sub $10). My friends got some individual sushi selections and were also happy with it.

This restaurant is no longer there! There doesn't seem to be a way to edit or update the listing here, but there is a coffee shop there. They might have moved, but it seems more likely that they have closed down. It’s a shame too as it was a pretty decent restaurant. This restaurant is no longer there

Salt Tasting Room45 Blood Alley, Vancouver
Overrated and Overpriced
Submitted Friday, February 6, 2009 - 11:24am [Dine in]

I went here for Dine Out Vancouver, the $28 option.
Took a little while to find out the place - my friends weren't exaggerating when they said it was in a shady looking avenue.

First of all, know that this place is truly a tasting room. Don't go here expecting to get a real meal, it's only a sampling room.

Fine, but I wonder, if it's going to be a back alley, brick wall, dimly lit, and poor furnished (uncomfortable chairs) type of place, I expect appropriate pricing. For me that would be having a reasonable price. For others, the chic or ghetto look justifies a higher price. Maybe so for some, but personally II would only accept the current price if the food justified it.

I don't know about the wine, which may be the best part of the restaurant, and the service was solid. But I was not impressed by the food samples. Some of the cheese samples were ok, but one of them seemed like supermarket quality to me, as did the meat samples. Next time I want to go to a tasting room, I'll go to a local deli or even a touristic one, and save my $30+ dine out meal for a good steak...

Good Food, Good Location, Fair Prices
Submitted Friday, January 30, 2009 - 11:12am [Dine in]

I went here for Dine Out Vancouver with some friends. It was by the water, and had an excellent ambiance inside. We were there at night, but it looked like during the day you'ld have a nice view of the water. The service was very good, the food was brought out in good time, and they were willing to substitute pork for shrimp in a certain dish due to my friend's allergies. I heard they have an upstairs area that can be booked for parties and events. I would definitely go there again.

Went here for dinner with a friend. It's pretty solid, they bring out most orders on dishes and you transfer to your plate, so best to order a few different dishes and share. Decent location, large restaurant, amusingly oversized fish in tank

Good Food, OK but unfriendly service
Submitted Thursday, January 3, 2008 - 3:04am [Dine in]

I went here with some friends. The food is quite good, and comes in generous portions. It is a little pricey, but that's really my student budget speaking, the price fits for North Van. But I cannot agree more with the other review here, the owner could have hidden her 'disdain' a little better. I think she should avoid serving people herself, the service of the restaurant should be amiable, not frowning... But that's OK, as long as they are not openly rude, I can focus on my meal, which was good.

Good place to go for lunch. You can get a single filling bowl or all you can eat for only a little higher price. The place has a sketchy ambiance, but it's a good place for a student to dine at. Just make sure to take it easy with the sauce experimentation.

Good Greek Food
Submitted Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 10:55pm [Dine in]

Mythos is a little pricey compared to "fast-food" Greek restaurants, but the quality makes up for it. The lamb is good, not very greasy, and cooked well. We don't come here often because of the price, it makes for a good dinner for a special occasion.

From the outside it looks a little sketchy, but it has a nice atmosphere inside. The food is OK and at reasonable prices. Chicken/Beef Donburi for those at the table that don't eat sushi. Reservation might be a good idea on weekends, every time we've gone there we've had to wait outside for a little bit.

Weekend Lunch Buffet
Submitted Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 10:41pm [Dine in]

We've only tried the all you can eat buffet, but it's great. A good variety of food, and relatively quick service during always busy weekends. The only complaint is they are a little slow on refilling water sometimes, I wish they would leave a pitcher at our table.
