Dockside Restaurant1253 Johnston Street, Vancouver
Setting good, noise terrible
Submitted Saturday, February 7, 2015 - 4:14pm [Dine in]

In my honest opinion, this place felt like a high class cafeteria. I know that's like saying a good American car but boy is it loud in there. Everything echoes. Food is ok, like every else you get the "free range" chicken and confit and such... nothing special. I would suggest other places like Bishops.

Save your money and time, not saying this place is terrible but was a major disappointment for my mom on mothers day...

Great but at a major PRICE
Submitted Saturday, February 7, 2015 - 4:11pm [Dine in]

The food is good, wish I could order here often but my bank account and intelligence won't let me... I am trying really hard to understand why it costs so much. I know the ingredients are far better than anywhere else but I still can't justify it. I guess now we know why they have it in that specific location...

I suggest Topanga on West 4th sometime.

Grease pit
Submitted Saturday, February 7, 2015 - 4:06pm [Take-out]

I honestly think this is less healthy than McDonalds. Then again I don't eat at Fast Foods joints at all... full of grease and salt = Chinese food... I do not recommend this place but then again this is Surrey... people here don't know quality. That is quite apparent. Thanks for reheating my wontons and other foods in the back... this place I believe has been shut down a couple times in the past for hygienic reasons.

Real fish? Think about it...
Submitted Saturday, February 7, 2015 - 3:56pm [Dine in]

Beware of the imitation seafoods they have. We all know crab is usually imitated but Tilapia but do you know how they are raised? It's disgusting! Also, the other fish they have such as Tuna, Salmon and scallops. They could all be imitated or severely poor cuts of other fish to keep costs down and profits up.

I do not trust this owner, unfortunately people in North America are not as educated...

I do NOT recommend this place.

Not sure what the noodles are made out of.
Submitted Saturday, February 7, 2015 - 3:51pm [Dine in]

I believe this is very rich soup, the noodles... do they use enriched wheat flour, canola oil and or other poor ingredients? I know I know... it's cheap but still. After doing research on ramen, not sure if I can go back...

Staff are nice, like the greetings they give :)

Portions are good.

Nice cozy place

Love their soups, seem to be good quality all around.

The appetizers are disappointing, they're good but wayyyy overpriced! Soups are decently priced but seems like they maybe using smaller bowls?? Not sure, sandwiches are nice and their other entrees are good too. Very cozy place and have been a regular customer for a couple years now. I just don't order their appetizers.

Great quality food! FINALLY
Submitted Saturday, February 7, 2015 - 3:43pm [Dine in]

This place... I have no regrets eating here, The ingredients they use is finally what I have been looking for in a lunch and dessert shop. I am very happy this place exists and hope they expand to other locations as well.

Pies are fantastic! They use real ingredients, but if you're the type of person that thinks Safeway has great quality pies then you won't understand nor appreciate the taste and workmanship into these pies.

Only issue I had was our server (her name is June) was very slow and didn't seem to care much except for her red lips ad fingernails. Other than that the rest of the staff were very nice!

I highly recommend this place!

For the drunks
Submitted Saturday, February 7, 2015 - 3:38pm [Dine in]

This pizza is good if you think Pizza Hut and Dominos have superb quality pizzas. I guess if you're drunk anything is good, especially grease on top of enriched wheat flour they use...

Not much different than the other poor North American quality pizzas we were used to in the 80's and 90's.

This is a very Mediocre place
Submitted Saturday, February 7, 2015 - 3:36pm [Take-out]

I ordered take out a couple times and also dined in 3 times past 5 years or so. Doesn't seem to have changed much, food is ok and the price is good. But then again a Mustang is cheap compared to a Porsche for a reason... not sure how good the quality of meats are or if the vegetables are ridden with pesticides from USA.

Service can be decent to poor. Side dips are outrageously overpriced, yes you have to pay for them. Greek salad sides are also too expensive for the poor vegetables and don't ask for a side greek salad with out the rice with your meal... they charge more... silly.

WASHROOMS ARE TERRIBLE, like a third world country.
