Great food at a hidden neighbourhood gem

We've had a lot of great meals here, and are looking forward to many more - most of our thoughts are given in the description. Forgot to mention the awesome chicken pakoras we had the last time we went there. They also have great vermicelli dish with black mushrooms. Another option you have on visiting VTC is just ordering from their its great selection of appies, to enjoy these with cold beer.

Decent food with OK service but a terrible owner

Good AYCE, in a large space, and talked up by a couple of friends. Went there with spouse and a friend to try it out. The service is OK, but the Hispanic waiter is more of a bouncer to mind the beer bellies, for whom everyone is a "badi" - ready buddy. Efficient, but not polite. The young Oriental waitress is very eager to help. I hope they have more wait staff for busier times - we went on a Tuesday evening, and the place hardly had five-six other tables occupied the whole time we were there.

The less said about the owner the better - he has no qualms about being the only buffet place I know of that slaps on a forced gratuity, especially if an Entertainment Book coupon is used, and he is not the kind of guy you want to try and reason with. The customer definitely does not come first here, and I think the Entertainment Book people should run a check on participants' billing policies and customer-friendliness, just so that crooks like this one are left out of the book going forward.

The food is OK - nothing worth writing home about - there are better, and cheaper buffets right in downtown Vancouver, as well as in other parts of the metro area, that serve much more appetising food. Some of the dishes were excessively oily.

Will not go there again, even with another coupon/promotion going on.
