Service is a joke.
Submitted Sunday, April 18, 2010 - 1:48am [Dine in]

My friends and I arrived around 9/9:30pm and it was pretty packed. One large group took up 3 tables and, although they appeared to be done and are just chatting, they weren't about to leave. Two small tables beside that group freed up so my friends sat down (there were 7 of us in our party). There was one other party (2 people) waiting for a table--they came in after us--and saw that there's no space so they left. I went to one of the servers/counter person (who didn't greet us or even looked like he wanted to be there) to order something but he told me that someone will come serve me at the table. I started to head back to the table but then he asked me how many of us are there. I told him there's 7 of us and he told me to give up the table (so other, smaller groups, can take them, even though there weren't any other people waiting) and wait for the large group to leave. Sounds reasonable so I asked him about how long we'll have to wait. He said he didn't know. I ask him about the sign on the table that informs customers about a 30-minute limit for the tables during busy times and he says, "Well, we don't enforce that." I told him fine, and I got all my friends and we left.

The service was horrible. The staff were NOT helpful or willing to do their job. There were approximately 3 people working and they just stood around. The one I spoke to at the counter kept resting his head on top of the display case even while customers were looking at the pastries. It just shows how much they care about their job, I guess.

I wouldn't return, nor will my friends. And I don't recommend other people to either...it's not worth the hassle.

Amazing everytime!

I love going to Yuji's! Their food, atmosphere, everything, makes me feel like I'm in Tokyo! They have the same charm (and taste) that reminds me of those great sushi restaurants in Japan. Everytime I go is very expensive, but very very worth it. It's a great place to bring a date if you're looking to not eat too much but get a sample of lots of different flavours. Definitely recommend to everyone who aren't on tight budgets!

Worst experience ever
Submitted Friday, April 10, 2009 - 2:36am [Dine in]

I've been to this location many times (with pretty consistent, good service + food) and what happened yesterday was the worst experience I've ever had! After this, I won't go back again.

When my friends and I first approached the entrance, one of the employees (a server) was having a smoke about 2 feet from their take-out window. When we got close, the server finished her cigarette and walked in front of us, with the disgusting smell of cigarettes trailing behind her... .. very appetizing. Once we got inside, we stood with 2 other parties for 10 minutes even though there were 5 empty tables. When the host finally decided to help us, he sat me and my friends at a dirty table all the way at the back. We sat at the table for around 20 minutes before one of my friends had to flag one down really loudly. Our server came over and all he said was "hi, what's up?". No "what can I get for you" or "would you like any drinks"...he just asked us "what's up" and stood there until my friends told him we're ready to order. We also asked him to wipe our table since the host or busboy didn't (there was solid food on the table and the host put our menus on top of it....I had to get tissue from my bag to wipe off the stuff).

The only good thing that came out of this was the server who gave us our food. He was really polite and friendly. But, because of our original server's mistake, he gave me a beef burger even though I ordered the chicken one....this just added onto our already crappy night. The guy who gave us our food, however, was kind enough to offer to remake my friends' dishes since they waited for my chicken burger. Btw, the food was decent but nothing special (fries were over-salted tho).

When we were all done with our food, we waited a good 20-25 mins before we got impatient and I had to go find my server to get the bill...I don't think I can go back for a long time unless they get their act together. Those other employees could really learn a thing or two from the awesome server.

Wasn't great...
Submitted Monday, January 29, 2007 - 2:31pm [Dine in]

I've been to this restaurant for lunch before and also next door for dessert. Almost all the times I've been to this restaurant were good experiences. However, this year's dine out wasn't great. The service was ok (we were given the minimal amount but that was alright). Then the food came and we noticed that it was fairly cold. It wasn't ice cold but cooled down enough that the food was rather bland.

All in all...it wasn't great.

Disappointing
Submitted Monday, January 29, 2007 - 2:28pm [Dine in]

I ate at Hermitage last year for Dine Out and was very satisfied with both the food and the service. But when I went back this year, the food was not great and the service was absolutely horrible. The food was bland and nothing special. The server barely payed any attention to our table and when we asked for bread, he didn't tell us that there's a charge. This was such a disappointing night. I don't think I'll go there again.
