Decided to treat ourselves to a visit to the 1827, having had mostly pleasurable experiences (2) in the past. In all three cases, service, value and ambiance maintained the same rating given today. Food previously, while not huge portions by todays standards, were adequate and extremely tasty. The other day however, we were disappointed in the 3 cheese fondue and the steps taken to correct it. The cheese was prepared as a cheese sauce, tasty, but suitable for pasta, not a fondue. For the price we paid, $22, I expect the "new" chef to know how to prepare it. As well, the amount of sauce given was half an inch in depth...kind of hard to dip, and scorching from the heat of the flame. The waitress agreed that the sauce did not appear right. She offered to have it made again, in the same way....no thanks. It was a white sauce with 3 cheeses in it....not a fondue sauce. We packaged it up, minus the sauce, and made an awesome fondue at home. Still tempted to come here, due to ambiance and location and beverages, but food is to be carefully ordered. Charged full price and no ammends made or offered.
