I have been going to Cafe Luxy for many years. The hostess/owner(?) is rarely consistent in her treatment of customers. One time she is warm and friendly, other times she is cranky and unfriendly. This last time, New Years Eve, was a cranky/unfriendly time.

I had phoned ahead for a reservation for 5:30PM, knowing it was New Years Eve and I wanted to make sure my partner and I could get in. The person on the other end of the phone, a male, said the only reservations he could take were for the $50.00 New Years Eve menu. I told him I just wanted to order from the regular menu. He thought about it and consulted someone else in the restaurant, then said that 5:30pm was early enough to order from the regular menu and then took my reservation.

When we arrived, we told the hostess/owner in question that we had a reservation. She was friendly and seated us with the New Years Eve $50.00 menu and then left us. Other people in the restaurant had the regular menu on the tables. When she finally came back, we said we had really wanted to order from the regular menu. She said that it wasnt possible, that reservations were ONLY for the New Years Eve menu. We told her that when we made the reservation we were told we could order from the regular menu. Her friendly manner had turned to cranky and unfriendly at this point. We said that the man who took the reservation said it was okay. She then left us, angrily scolded the man who took the reservation, then came back to us and said that since he told us we could use the regular menu she would let us. The funny thing was that there were plenty of empty tables in the restaurant. We could have said we didnt want the New Years Eve menu, walked out, walked back in again WITHOUT a reservation and ordered off the regular menu.

This is typical of this woman and we have now vowed to not patronize this restaurant again. Her inconsistency in customer relations is just too much.

I must say that the food and the waiter's service were very good. The Gin & Tonic that we ordered tasted more like Gin and Soda Water though.
