Why does everyone say inexpensive?!
Submitted Wednesday, August 17, 2011 - 3:20pm [Take-out]

I stopped by today on my way through Kerrisdale and grabbed a hot dog to go. I asked for it without onions since the menu said it comes with onions, tomatoes and special mustard sauce. She wrote down no O and put it on the board. I saw that the grill they use to toast the buns is also the one they use to fry the onions so I once again said "if you could keep it as far away from onions as possible I would appreciate it" and she looked at me like I was being ridiculous.

I went outside to wait and then came back in to see my bun on the grill covered in onions. I didn't want to assume it was mine so I just watched. He put the hot dog on the bun and put tomatoes on it and when he looked at the bill and saw it was supposed to NOT have onions he held it up over the grill, shook them off and proceeded to add my cheese. I went to the counter and said "I can't have the bun that had the onions on it" and the lady that took my order initially turned around and looked at the hot dog and said "there aren't any onions", again, like I was crazy. I pointed out that there WERE onions on it and he just took them off and he said, without so much as eye contact with either of us, "I took them off already". I said again that I can't have the bun that had the onions on it and they both reacted like I was out of line. I just paid $10.25 for a hot dog - I don't think asking for it to be without onions or onion shrapnel should be out of the question! I will not go back. Ever.

Oh, and the special mustard sauce is regular mustard on one side and mayo on the other :S
