Great neighborhood Italian
Submitted Saturday, July 4, 2009 - 8:37pm [Dine in]

As a person who enjoys food and wine and travels extensively to taste and experiment, it was refreshing to find this small restaurant in downtown Victoria in 2008. We returned in 2009, during a months stay to find that the cooking was still superb, service was excellent, and to discover that they are moving to a larger and more appropriate location. Grilled calamari in a lovely sauce, pork loin seared outside but tasty inside, and fresh white salmon came to the table accompanied by an unusually wonderful mix of vegetables. The wine list, while short and young, contains Italian wines of great character. Quality of this kind deserves a sophisticated location.

Great location

This restaurant has been around a few years and is a nice place to have lunch. The service is very professional and the wine list is fairly extensive. The food, while not unusual, is competent and presented with some flare. The view of the Marina and bayfront is superb and the staff is very welcoming.

Very good food and wine

I was a little put off by the noise and activity when we first entered, but that is true of a lot of good restaurants. The service was very friendly and made several suggestions which turned out to be very good. Excellent Osso Bucco and a fantastic Italian wine selection with many good vintages of Tuscan and Pidemontese producers, including an incredible collection of Brunellos.

Great seafood
Submitted Sunday, June 7, 2009 - 6:26pm [Dine in]

The place was packed on the night we came, but we were shown to a table right away as we had booked. The service was efficient and friendly and the seafood was fresh, tasty, and abundant. Not much of a wine list, but seafood is the reason to come here. It is noisy and without much ambiance, but with good service and food it is a great place to come during the week.

An exciting place for dinner
Submitted Sunday, June 7, 2009 - 6:10pm [Dine in]

What a wonderful place to eat in Victoria with tasty food and a long and well chosen list of British Columbian wines, some of the most underated wines in North America. The food courses are not too complex and full of flavour and generous. The staff are very welcoming, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about the ingredients used in food preparation. The moderate hum of conversation and the obvious enjoyment of the patrons is exciting.

Great Recommendation
Submitted Sunday, June 7, 2009 - 6:02pm [Dine in]

A member of the wait staff at another restaurant recommended this place to us and what a nice experience. The food was reminiscent of the good cooking one finds in many small towns in France. It had the atmosphere of a neighborhood bistro and wonderful service. If you like to experiment with wine, this is a great choice. The owner of a local winery was in the restaurant, recognized us, and introduced us around, which made the evening more personal, eventhough we only spend one month a year in Victoria. This is a restaurant to which we will return.

Pleasant surprise
Submitted Sunday, June 7, 2009 - 5:54pm [Dine in]

We were very pleasantly surprised by the sophisticated, excellent, lunch and wine list. We did book a table and were seated by a window with very comfortable chairs and an extremely pleasant view. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and the food came out in a well timed manner. Underground parking was a nice touch. We look forward to dining there again.
