A few words to describe:
Nice location on Fort Street, just west of Cook in the heart of Antique Row.
Consistent in quality.
Cozy room (but can be drafty in the cold weather when the door gets opened)
Attentive service at all times.
A rather small but diverse menu, with creative selections for daily specials.
Breakfasts are very good but note: these are not truck-stop sized servings. You'll be pleasantly filled but not so much so that you need a sleep afterward.
Sandwiches and soups are very nice meals - made from scratch and very tasty.
Their home-made toast and home-made jams are wonderful.
Really good burgers.
Well worth it, and they stand up well in what is a very competive market for breakfast-lunch restaurants.

I've frequently visited dinehere.ca to get an idea where/if I want to dine out. Given recent experiences with Floyd's, I was compelled to register so that I can offer an opinion.
Floyd's is annoyingly inconsistent in it's food quality. Service is solid and attentive. However, I've had meals (usually breakfast) that are good one week and marginal another. This has been the case for about the last year that I've eaten there (began around summer 08), but my experience this week was such that I will not likely re-visit Floyd's.
My breakfast arrived as I had ordered, rather lukewarm. The potatoes were, for the most part, a very small portion of over-fried scraps from the bottom of the fryer. Not that I'm a pig when it comes to fried foods (I'm not but consider it a treat once in a while with breakfast) - but this was clearly indicative of a real LACK OF QUALITY CONTROL. This plate should not have left the kitchen. Period.
Been there on busy days, and it'll be wonderful. Go in another day, with less people, and the food is nowhere near as good. And vice versa. This level of inconsistency will not retain customers in a city with so many breakfast dining choices.
Good luck Floyd. If you can get your stuff together and be more consistent, I'll gladly come back. But until then, adios.

I think the title pretty much says it all. Good coffee, and their attentive servers will keep it full for you. Nice big space - and they keep it nice and cozy on cold days. A real plus to that is that when the cold weather comes and someone opens the door from outside, the whole place doesn't get chilled (like at Blue Fox and other smaller rooms). They have reading material, including books on various subjects - for those that like to read while dining. Nice space between tables so you're never feeling cramped or a part of someone else's conversation.
The food - very tasty. They make a very nice salad. Breakfasts are wonderful. Burgers are, in my opinion, superb and stand up to anything else in the city. Sandwiches are excellent as well.
One downside. And it's a big one because it could really offend clients. They have at times displayed concert posters that are in full view of diners - one had the title "lesbian fistf*ck". Although some may find humorous and most customers wouldn't blink an eye - I would be horrified to bring my parents or children here to have them see this.
Just a suggestion - but when a business is doing their absolute best, they cannot afford to give customers any reason to be offended.
Otherwise, this is a really good spot to dine and I hope they succeed.
