Well, it was a Saturday night at about 10pm. My wife and I were in Whistler for the weekend and wanted somewhere nice to eat. Most places in Whistler close early as this wasn't our first choice, but boy were we glad that we ended up here. We have heard of the North Vancouver location, but did not know the Whistler located existed. Its a little pricey, but its authentic Italian, so we were okay with it.
We entered the restaurant and right away somebody told us about a 5-10 min wait and sat us on a side table with a drink/wine menu. That wine Menu was massive. Bigger than any menu I've at a restaurant. It was great as my dad makes his own wine, so I've always been interested in wine growing up (beer person at heart :p) A waiter comes shortly asking us for our drinks, telling us his recommendations. My wife is pregnant and can't drink wine, so we got a bottle of San Pellegrino and a recommended glass of red wine for myself. We were then seated at our table with food menus. The atmosphere is very nice and classy, but not too classy, so you felt comfortable and relaxed.
Our drinks and assortment of breads/butter came with our waitress and was told about the specials and recommendations. My wife is vegan, so she's kinda limited to what she can eat. She decided to start with the CARPACCIO FUNGHI:$13 PORTOBELLO MUSHROOM CARPACCIO, GOAT CHEESE, ARUGULA, PISTACHIO VINAIGRETTE. We took out Goat cheese and she was happy. She then ordered GNOCCHI AL POMODORO:$24 PEMBERTON POTATO GNOCCHI, FRESH TOMATO BASIL as her main. She said it was full of flavour and loved the texture of the pasta.
For myself, I ended up getting a seasonal dinner they had, which was a 4 course meal for $31, I started off with seasoned/baked sliced of bread, topped with some type of spread and what I believe was white asparagus. It was on a plate with lightly dressed arugula. It was refreshing and a great start for what I had in store. The next item I received was a smaller version of the CARPACCIO FUNGHI. For my main, I decided to go with FILETTO AL MARSALA: $38 MESQUITE GRILLED AAA BEEF TENDERLOIN, MARSALA ONION SUCCO. Im assuming it was a modified and smaller version because of the $38 price tag and my 4-course was only $31. The meat was very tender and I didn't even need a knife. It was beautifully seasoned and was laid on a bed of mashed potatoes. It also had a nice combination of seasoned grilled vegetables.
For desert, I chose Panna Cotta. It has burnt Caramel on top and served with chocolate/raspberry syrup. It was probably the best I've had ( I don't have it often). My wife ordered an assortment of freshly made Gelato. It was very tasty and creamy. We both decided to order a nice cup of Espresso to go with our deserts. It was very excellent and cut the sweetness perfectly.
Overall, I was impressed with this restaurant as the food was great and our waitress was always there to help us especially my wife. I will go again. Also, take note the of the biggest Pepper grinder You will ever see. That thing was massive. Hope you enjoyed the review.
