A diamind in the rough!
Submitted Monday, January 22, 2007 - 7:33pm [Dine in]

My girlfriend and I decided to give this place a try during the Dineout. We had reservations on a Saturday evening and actually arrived a little early and noticed the restaurant was packed. After being greeted at the door, we were told that it may take a little while before we could get a seat. So we waited at the bar and ordered a couple of martini's. About 10 min. into the wait the bartender came over with a plate of the Boar wontons. It' a variation of a deep fried wonton which is really good. After three rounds of the snack the bartender informed us that the cocktails were on the house. A very Nice peace offering! We were seated now and the impecable food and service just continues. My girl orders the foie gras that is seasoned to perfection and load of flavor, and the venison cooked just right. I ordered the beef carpacio and lamb without the gamey taste. Above all the great food was the 5 star service. I have eatin at the Morton's and Five Sails, but the outstanding service here has left a very memorable impresion with us. We will definately return here for a taste of there brunch and regular dinner menu. If you are around the false creek area give it a try. It weel worth it.

Went here for NYE dinner with GF. Arrived late and was informed the kitchen was going to close in 1/2 hr. After a quick shot of CR, I decided to order the veal oso bucco. Waiter came back and say's were all out. Then I went with the beef tenderloin. Cooked to perfection. Creme Brule for desert. GF ordered the 3 course dinner and said it was really good. We will be returning again.

Good Food over the years.

I've been here a few times in the past and it has been very consistant. We arrived as a party of 9. It took a few minutes to get a table set up for us and seated right away. We decided to split a Chicken and Brie sandwich. We amde a mistake. We should of ordered one plate each it was that good. The brie melted on a bed of chicken, fresh tomatoe, and romaine with a side salad and french fries. Their garlic mayo was awsome. Very attentive service also. I would recommend this place if your in the area.

After reading some of the reviews we decided to give it a try. First, I could not get the Impark ticket meter to work so I just gave up. But, after being seated immediately a friendly waitress came over and asked if I purchased a ticket (they re-imberse). I said the meter is not working. She promptly came with a piece of paper with their restaurant name and a number on it and was told to put it on the dash of my car. Now that's service! We quickly ordered a mixed tempora which was not oily, soft shell crab a huge one, chicken yaki soba very large plate of noodles, assorted sashimi which was fresh, and mixed sushi which had very large rolls. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Large portions so beware of over ordering. The service staff continued to top up our cups of tea through out the dinner. I would highly reccommend this restaurant if you are craving for decent priced good japanese food.

Long wait for food
Submitted Sunday, December 3, 2006 - 12:27pm [Dine in]

We went to De Dutch yesterday for breakfast. We were seated immediately and a few minutes later placed an order for the Hash and Amsterkok. It took close to 40 miniutes for our food to reach the table. The breakfast is decent but sometimes the long wait to eat is not worth the wait.

I've been to this place three times and it was TERRIBLE! Time and time again the service was none existant. The third attemp was comical. We were seated but no service for a good 30 min! I made eye contact with a waitress and was totaly ignored. Even with a hand wave! The food gave me a stomach ache and I had to run home for some immediate attention in the bathroom. I would rather light my money fire before I would EVER go back there again.

Would go back
Submitted Saturday, December 2, 2006 - 11:12am [Dine in]

Went to Coast the other night. We started with Tiger prawn and sauasge spring roll that was OK and the beef carpacio which was awsome melt in your mouth dish. Would highly reccomend this dish. Then the mains, beef tenderloin cooked to perfection and the duck trio nice, tender, and loads of flavor. The service staff were quick and very attentive. Absolutly no problems. I would recommend and would go back again.
