Taza Falafel House344 Sixth Street, Canada, New Westminster
The real deal.
Submitted Saturday, January 24, 2015 - 4:28pm [Dine in]

The falafel wraps and baklava are outstanding and very reasonably priced. Everything at the restaurant is made lovingly and fresh by the friendly and effervescent owner. The restaurant may look ordinary and sterile, but this is more than made up for by the warmth of the employees. I was so impressed that after gorging myself on a filling falafel, I got four spinach pies to go. My boyfriend and I aren't even huge fans of baklava, but we found hers delicious, addictive, and in a class of its own. If you're looking for an authentic falafel experience (which is painfully rare in these parts), go to Taza! This is the real thing.

Indian Star Restaurant & Sweets420 Sixth Street, New Westminster
Best Indian Food in the Greater Vancouver Area!
Submitted Saturday, May 10, 2014 - 9:54am [Delivery]

In July of 2013, my boyfriend and I fortuitously discovered this establishment and duly fell in love with its delicious Indian cuisine, which we feel is the best Indian food, and the best restaurant food in general, that we have ever experienced in this area. Both of us are fans of Indian food, so we have been to many Indian restaurants around Canada and the world, but we have rarely, if ever, experienced Indian food that is this good. We order delivery about once a week (to us, it is our end-of-week reward), we bring our friends and relatives there for special occasions, and recommend the restaurant to anyone asking about great food in the area. Our favourite dishes are Eggplant Bhartha, Chana Masala, Gobi Aloo, Vegetable Curry, and Garlic Naan (although we also enjoyed your Vegetable Samosas and Pakoras, Chai Tea, and Galab Jamun; moreover, our carnivorous friends also said that your meat dishes were tasty). What we find special are their bright orange curries that have a rich and spicy flavour; the way in which they season their dishes enables us to enjoy the tastes of the different ingredients in a harmonious and delicious balance. Moreover, the quality of the food is pretty consistent from week to week. We also found that their prices are reasonable, considering the portion size and quality. I highly recommend this restaurant to vegetarians and anyone else who loves Indian food. Even if you don't love, or even like, Indian food, this restaurant may very well change your mind!

Now, for a time, early in 2014, they temporarily had a new chef so the quality of the food did decline. Fortunately, according to the owner, the old chef is back, and the food tastes as great as it ever did (we ordered it last night and were not disappointed).
