Beautiful Place But.....
Submitted Tuesday, January 23, 2007 - 12:06am [Dine in]

Waited too long for service and food, then was pestered about ordering more drinks and then we were "accidentally" overcharged. I guess it must've had something to do with the fact that their live entertainment had begun as we were finishing up. But we weren't notified about any price changes during our meal.

The bellydancing was interesting though not remarkable [especially since it was an ordinary looking Canadian girl who did not resemble anything of the idea we had of an Arabian dancer] so we were less than enchanted by the fact that we would be charged extra for merely being present at the start of the show. We finally straightened things out [after much hassling with management] but our evening was ruined nevertheless.

We won't be going there again

I Just Don't Get It...

Everyone raves about how great the food is here and though its not bad, I find it to be rather substandard Italian fare for the price. The dishes taste too much like "Chef Boyardee" made them .. soggy, overcooked pasta with too much [bland tasting] red sauce and gobs of gooey cheese baked on them [I'm sure kids like this alot].

I prefer my pasta fresh and "al dente" with at least some semblence of fresh herbs and spices in the sauce. Yes, the portions are rather large but the quality is low-brow for the prices they charge

Very Beautiful & Enjoyable Place
Submitted Monday, January 22, 2007 - 11:07pm [Dine in]

I simply love being able to pile my plate with my very own combination of tasty Indian flavours! Whenever I get a craving for Indian food [which is often..haha] I grab the family and go to this wonderful buffet. The food is delicious and there's plenty variety of it.

The patio is fabulous with its spendid view of the Vancouver skyline and it has heaters and ashtrays [which is a friendly gesture for those who smoke].

I've been told that they are the ex owners of the famous "All India Sweets" on Main street [a place that we used to go to before we discovered how nasty the "new" management is]. What a great pleasure it is to have found the old management again!

The service could use a little improvement as it can be a bit slow when you're ordering drinks. But all in all, its still an enjoyable place to eat.

BEWARE.. Con Artists!!

The staff and management are independent mercenaries, working the public over. They pad your bill [you must keep a sharp eye on your actual charges]. The food is less than substandard for the price, the service is hostile or non existent, if you don't order enough.

New Management with No Hospitality!
Submitted Monday, January 9, 2006 - 6:34pm [Dine in]

We used to take the whole family out for dinner here, and it was here that we created some wonderful memories with our kids. Unfortunately, the place we used to know, no longer exists. The restaurant is still there, the food is still excellent [although the portions are smaller for the price, than they used to be] .... but the last time we were there, the management was so UTTERLY rude, mercenary and money gouging, it made us lose our appetite. No, it isn't the same place anymore and we won't be back. Too sad.

They Need A Better Chef

First let me say that the management and staff are very nice, the service is good, the pizza's are okay [although they used to have more taste to them] and the entrees are GAWD AWFUL for the price. Very substandard cooking methods. The chicken breast is like rubber and flavourless and so are the ribs. Their pastas are over cooked with very flat and flavourless sauce and baked with a gob of some nasty ersatz "mozarella cheese" on top. I had their apple pie for dessert and that was the worst of all. For although it was a generous portion, packed with nice big chunks of apple, the pastry was very tough to chew and tasted stale, as if it had been in the refrigerator for years! No, I won't be going back there for any substantial meals. But maybe only for a small appetizer with a beer, shared with a friend.

Kalypso Restaurant & Tapas Bar1323 Robson Street, Vancouver
The Best Roast Lamb In Vancouver!
Submitted Tuesday, December 27, 2005 - 7:31am [Dine in]

And that's not all that's excellent at this very popular eatery on the bustling Robson strip. The many mouthwatering dishes they offer are prepared with homestyle care and attention using the freshest ingredients [you can actually taste the freshness!]. The staff is courteous and friendly. The owner is a gentlemen's gentleman who greets you with a smile and see's to it that you are comfortable and well treated. The Kalypso is well known [and well loved] by Vancouver locals, as well as the many visitors from around the world who return year after year to savour the Kalypso dining experience. The live entertainment on the weekends which features bellydancing is a bonus.
