Eat anything but I'm not. P

Was stuck here for a conference and was sick of starbucks and the dismal buffet. The noodle bowl sounded just perfect. Choose your broth noodles kveggies protein. How could that go wrong?

First I arrived at noon on a weekday. No staff. After 5 minutes some old guy who looked really out of it and not too bright comes out and does stuff but does not acknowledge me'or other people in line. The other people were smart and decided to drive to McDonald's. Wish I had. Finally after another 5 minutes some woman comes out announcing she had to go to the bathroom. Yay thanks for the update.

I ordered red curry broth which was super super super oily and not from coconut milk from some kind of gross oil. There was a an oil slick so thick on top of my soup that I wanted to call Greenpeace. Ew and yuk!! The ramen noodles were ok. I got 2 veggies minuscule serving of bean sprouts and 2 brocvoli trees. The bean sprouts should have been on top. Then I got a double order of dhrimp which equalled 6. They tasted off. I had asked the dude if the broth was vegetatian and he just stared at me so I took my chances.i do not eat chicken or beef. Halfway through I go to shove a chopstick full of stuff in and notice a huge long disgusting piece of some kind of meat. I just about puked.

I could not eat Anymore of this nastiness and threw it out. $10 down the drain and I wAs still hungry. Don't do it.

Worst pub in metro Vancouver - maybe anywhere
Submitted Thursday, September 10, 2015 - 9:48pm [Dine in]

First off what part of it's in Surrey didn't I get? We just stopped in when driving through surrey. Omg it was the absolute worst most disgusting pub food I've ever had. The wings were VILE. Bruschetta tasteless. Veggie spring rolls just about made my husband puke. Paid over $100 for 3 people with drinks and couldn't get out of there and surrey fast enough. Do not ever go there, I'm serious.

Good location and pub needs better staff and food
Submitted Friday, May 15, 2015 - 8:48pm [Dine in]

Went for dinner and sat outside between pub and cafe. Lovely street front bar table- best in the place I think on a SUNny day. Two great ciders on tap!! Excellent. Beer selection is disgusting!!! Mostly ales only ONE lager- original 16. Not ONE normal beer. Not one. No bud, no Canadian no Kokanee no corona, no carlsburg no nothing. Hubby not happy does by like ale.

Hubby liked burger and fries were good. I had pizza- could have been good but crust ended up soggy and the whole thing could have had a whole lot more flavour.

Sat outside and when it got cold we wanted to move inside and transfer bill . We're told we had to pay before we moved in. I asked if that was policy and she said no but because it was a "bigger" bill 4 drinks and dinner she would make us pay. I asked why and if management said this. She said she was " sort of a manager". And if they don't do that the staff gets " ripped off". On a tip I guess. Very poorly handled . You never talk about tips to a customer. She got ripped of on her tip for that comment. Backfire.

Waitresses were pretty low class - most kinda skanky and tattooed except one. Limited menu which would be ok if all the items hit the marks . On the fence with this place

Great extended dine out
Submitted Sunday, February 8, 2015 - 10:15am [Dine in]

Hadn't been for a few years. Decided to try it and was pleased to see they'd extended their dine out menu. Made easy reservations the night before out Friday out and asked for a window seat. Ended up with a seat in the elevated area in the middle, but on the edge so it was better than a window seat.

Their dine out menu was only $28! I think they used to have the highest price dineout. Anyway we had the salad with nuts and cranberries and cheese- delicious. Steak and salmon was also ordered. The staek pronounced very good and the salmon was ok - sockeye vey fishy with skin on, but cooked ok. Risotto that came with it was excellent. And we both got yummy mini veggies with butter. Dessert was coffee creme brûlée which was a bit watery but had the proper crunchy top. It was supposed to come with biscotti which we did not get. The other dessert was chocolate with berries. It was some sort of slab of chocolate mousse or something that was not to my taste but the berries and coulis on the plate were nice.

Service was good but the cocktail and wine arrival was a bit off. Good value for dineout

Tragic really
Submitted Sunday, January 25, 2015 - 9:54pm [Dine in]

Went in on a Sunday night - 3 tables occupied. That should have been our first clue. Had not heard good things about the place but decided to give it a chance- our bad. Waitress was nice but new and let us know that continually. Did not know then menu and was obviously very poorly trained. Could not answer questions and had to be prompted to go get us answers. At the end she just brought the bill without asking and was unaware of a huge billboard outside that said 20% off for poco residents. We had to tell her and have the bill adjusted.

The food- chicken sandwich - waitres had no idea what type of chicken it was and just guessed that it would deli chicken. Like chicken roll? She did not know. Nor did she check. It came with cold fries. Yum!

The poutine was supposed to have bacon in it as a major ingredient. It had 2 small pieces . Boo.

The worst thing was the thai prawns. So funny I read on another site that they were the only good things. Only if you've never had thai food. It was close to$16 and I got 4 prawns! The sauce was just way too spicy( I love hot food) with no flavour. It should be served with a mound of warm jasmine rice- I got a pile of cold crunchy rice with bits of ??? In it. I have read this in other reviews so it's not a one off. Shameful. It said it came with "Asian slaw". Yum - too bad I got a small pile of dry cabbage with raw onion- no dressing.. Very poor. Ordered a Spanish coffee because it said it came with a maraschino cherry( rare these days). I never got it and the waitress just said they did not look very good. No apology or offer of anything. The dessert were $7 so not super high. But if you cant be bothered to make your own dessert really don't put them on the menu. I can get this crap from the original fakery anywhere . Gross. And the chocolate crunch cake had no crunch whatsoever and was just a thick glop of chocolate flavour.

Sadly the reality turned out as I expected. This place seems to be replacing the Denny's next door. Too bad the owner can't pull off a " west coast grill" it wouldn't take much except time and pride. Won't be back - rock on bartender doing shots behind the bar when we left- mind numbing.

I used to love this place and was it's biggest fan. But after tonight, I will be looking for somewhere new to order from. Food quality has gone down.

I had friends over and we ordered a number of dishes in cluding sweet and sour prawns. After we picked up and got back it turned out there were no prawns in the bag and they were the main dish for two non meat eaters. I checked the bill and the stupid order girl who was so bad on the phone to begin with, wrote down sweet and sour sauce not prawns. How can you not tell the difference?

The egg rolls were cold and we'd actually ordered spring rolls anyway. We ordered extra plum sauce and got 2 (instead of one I guess?) and finally there were NO fortune cookies. They whole meal was a write off.

Next time we'll try Hons.

What a horrible waste of an evening
Submitted Sunday, June 15, 2014 - 1:29pm [Dine in]

This place was just horrible. The food was not even worth reviewing on a restaurant review site. We went out to eat after. Enough said. We hoped there might be some good entertainment in Poco but were sadly disappointed.

Went a couple of weeks ago with a group. None of us had been there before but we read quite a few reviews on various sites before we booked. Honestly I've written a lot of reivews on here so, I'm not a on-off crack pot. I'm positive that most of the good reviews of this place are from the owner's friends and family or people who really don't get out much.

The drinks are sooo bad and soooo expensive as is the show. The show is ok - sort of what you'd expect to find in an off-colour high school production. It it no more prefessional than high school really. And most of the jokes are old and not really funny. The other are low class tacky jokes. Some of it is down right disgusting.

I have been to lots of dinner theatres in Vegas, LA and other cities and this is like a garage production. Although some of the people can sing pretty good, they're going nowhere from this place.

Save your money and go downtown.

Cheap. The price is cheap- probably why the food is cheap and the staff cheaper. You get ONE soy sauce and a drop of wasabi and that's it. You want more you pay. It's premade packaged sushi that is made at their Vancouver store. I was actually shocked when I read the list of ingredients over 25 plus in one sushi roll and over half of them were unpronounceable chemicals. I like fish and rice period. I kinda felt sick after I read the list and spent the afternoon sucking back water in was so thirsty. You pay too high a price for the cheap cost.

When I was a kids there were BR franchises everywhere. They are slowly disappearing . It's not because canada is overpriced - we have a very good supply management system that helps support our farmers . The fact is no one really wants their fake flavours and old fashioned sundae type dishes. I find them too heavy with the hard ice cream dq is much lighter as it's ice milk. I think they've just lost their lustre. And they were founded in California not Ontario.

WORST service EVER and the owners DO NOT CARE
Submitted Sunday, April 13, 2014 - 12:27am [Dine in]

Went down there with some poeple who are regulars - i.e. 3-4 times a week. You should care about these people. They make you a lot of money. The whole pub looks like they don't care from the outdated room, chairs and tables to the unmaintained patio. If I owned this place I'd have tvs without lines in them and would refurbish the patio and nasty carpet and put in new deor and tables. I'd also make sure the waitresses were decent. Most are but ours was bad.

First off we asked for a drink menu. We got one with wine, mocktails, beer etc. Where were the cocktails? I wasn't sure what I wanted . Nothing. Maybe then, I'll just have water. If there's a cocktail menue to help me Imight buy a $9 cocktail. Just stupid, Most men want beer so that's good, but many women want cocktails but are not sure what they feel like. Business 101 - TELL THEM WHAT YOU HAVE.

When asked about the food items. Watiress S(*&^) did not seem to be too helpful. Ordered chicken strip things that were out of a Food Service frozen bag and served with sauces in prepacked condiment containers - we know you care! Some seafood and artichoke dip came with a few chips and when we had a lot of dip left over and no chips the lousy waitress just wanted to take it away and not offer more chips.

THe service was sooooooo painfully slow we ordered our appies and food at the same time. We did make if very clear that we wanted the appies first and then the entrees when we were done. After 1/2 hour some other wiatress shows up with our entrees and we ahven't even had the appies yet. An argument ensued and we were told that the kitchen was trying to get our food our before a party of 30. I toldher I did not care, we were customers too. They reluctantanly took the food away. Fifteen minutes later we got our appies. Once thy were cleared we waited another 1/2 hour for our entree while otheres at our table who had ordered waaaaaay after use were served. The waitresses whole attitude sucked and she really needs another career.

I told one of the guys in our group who knows the manager and owners that he should tell them what a horrible night we had. He said why bother they dont' care. IT's very obvious. I thought it would be a priviledge to own a pub in a good location considering how much it must cost. But I guesss not. A guy was handing out tickets for a draw for a Canucks jersey and said we were going to do the draw at the end of the game( approx9:30) but no one will be left - really? in a pub on a Saturday night? WOW there's a red flag. But he was right, we were gone.

I Had my standard roll dip( vegetarian) with rice vermicelli and salad. It was cooked fresh and was much superior to Vina. Very good and large fresh roll. There was a line up full of regulars. That pretty much says it all. Nice staff and good condiments. Nice to support a non chain place.

We come here often to get samosas and other things to take home. We love to eat them but not fill our "gullet" as we hate having food stuck in our esophagus.

The although Indian sweets are not my favourite, the GULAB JAMUN are pretty good. Service is friendly. Students often stop in to pick up a samosa for the walk home from school for less tan a buck.

WHy? WHy? Why?
Submitted Friday, March 7, 2014 - 11:50pm [Dine in]

Why do I come back??
OK why is this place still in business?? Really Why?

Lets see - I only went back because last time we went we got oil slimed zucchini. with no coating. I complainded and got some $20 coupon. Went back - not sure why. Ordered onion rings for $7. Got 7. That's a buck and onion ring. Umm Ok.

Ordered a 9 ounce glass of wine. They asked if I wanted another . I said yes but only a 6 oz. Got a 9 ounce anyway and got charged for it. Nice scam.

Pirate packs are less than spectaluar anymore.

I ordered some tandoori quinoa bowl.. SOunded WAY better than it was. .Was supposed to come with naan bread - did not come, Had to ask and wait while they cooked it - even though it was on the description. Was supposed to come with cilantro sour cream. I had to ask for it. I mentioned that it was on the description and i was a little aggravated because I had already had to ask for the naan and it was not treated like a very big deal. Waitress says "Ok so do you want the sour cream or the manager?" WTF?? I just wanted what I ordered and paid for. It was supposed to have sliced almonds. None. The whole thing was a very amature white curry deal that was not very good. Stick to deep fried crap and burgers

I really hate white spot. Do not waste your money. Go to a good restaurant - like Dennys or McDOnalds.

Disgusting veggie burger
Submitted Tuesday, February 4, 2014 - 8:53pm [Dine in]

Ordered a veggie burger with cheese. Rang in at over nine dollars! Had to wait 8 minutes for the grossest veggie burger in town. Just because I don't eat meat doesn't mean I want my burger on stale cardboard. They should ask if you want a normal bun. It totally fell apart, was mostly bun, everything fell out when I picked it up and the patty was nasty. Had weird pieces of veggies and a foul spice.

Yuk yuk yuk - I want my nine bucks back. Don't ever have it trust me.

EW- Liquid chicken for $30!
Submitted Sunday, December 1, 2013 - 3:03pm [Dine in]

I went in there for breakfast on a Sunday. I know the place is expensive but the prices still were pretty steep; $16 for 3 pancakes.

I ended up ordering a custom omlette with toast and hasbrowns. Toast was grocery store white bread - just like at Ricky's. The jam came in little glass pots, but otherwise tasted the same as RIckys. The butter came in a little ceramic cup on teh plate and was liquid as the plate was so hot RIcky's serves solid butter. Who wants to pour liquid butter on toast? The hashbrowns were what looked like a square cut portion from some kind of deep dish hashbrown casserole. It looked nice, but was HroRIBLE - it was so full of rosemary it was inedible. The omlette looked like it was out of one of those plastic micorwave omelette pans. It looked ok on th eoutside but I would not be surprised if it had been nuked as it was not even brown at all on the outside. The real kicker was it was RAW liquid egg all through the centre. This "chef" has obviously never been taught how to make a proper omettle. The coffee was one of those over roasted dark roasts.

I pick a few veggies out of the omlette, and ate the toast. I left over 3/4 of the omelette and all teh hasbrown on my plate. The ocst of this meal was over $25 plus tip!. The server did not even care to ask why I was paying so much and did not eat most of it. Just whisked my plate away and dropped the bill.

Please, go somewhere else. Like umm RIcky's - much better breakfast and less than half the price.

Submitted Thursday, August 8, 2013 - 6:33pm [Dine in]

I go here a lot for coffee and breakfast items. I have also had very nice sandwiches at lunch time. I have always found the staff to be nice and the food good for the price. I have never had stale bread. Perhaps trying something is better for a review than heresay.

One thing I do keep in mind it that I'm not eating at restaurant. It's a cafe that serves other foods in an industrial park for the convenince of local workers. No one goes there as a destination. Therefore I would not expect a lunch salad to have freshly grated parmesan or anything else you'd find a destination restaurant. The price refelcts that though. Also if I suspected I didn't get what I wanted, i.e. turkey for chicken I'd ask them about it not just complain on a website.

Anywho I like elements and will continue to go.
