Not Mexican.

I had a burrito which came wet and was honestly quite bland. The "lettuce salad" that came with it was just shredded lettuce on the plate. The sour cream and cheese toppings were really just small drizzles. The burrito was not bad once I added my own hot sauce from the table.

Other people at my table seemed to like their choices better. I over heard a lady at the next table say her sandwich was just like Subway.

The place is authentic in that stuff is mismatched and they also sell some Latin groceries. Looks like a place you'd really find in a latin American country.

My friends took me there because they really seem to like it. The owner I think was polite. I'd go again but not my first choice.

Saturday game night with family.. Husband ordered Canadian but they did not say that Bud was only four bucks. Boo. Wine prices average - a rip off like most places. $6.49 for cheap red at 6 oz.

Sat night pizza was large for the price of a medium but they charge the higher price if you order a half and half Kid meals were very small for close to seven bucks. The baja salad was more like a boohoo salad. VERY bland. I had to pick out all the olives and it had no peppers corn or onions it in it was desribed on the menu. It was lettuce, GROSS olives, a little cheese, a few tortilla strips with jarred salsa for $12.99 not good value. Came with teeny piece of garlic bread. Child had chocolate pizza for dessert.. should have asked. It wa a tiny milk chocolate coin the size of a tooney - not at all what was expected. WOuld never go again without a gift card.

Wouldn't waste my time again
Submitted Sunday, March 4, 2012 - 1:38pm [Dine in]

Went on a Saturday night - place was more than half empty. Not a good first impression. The builidng itself was a nice old heritage house and nicely decorated but that's where it ends. Whatever you do , don't sit upstairs. There's no washroom up there and so if you're drinking, you're up and down the stairs all night - plus I think the wait staff forgets you're there.

We sat down and though there was a food menu, there were no drink menus or wine lists. We waited OVER 20 minutes before we were even apporached by a waitress. I had to ask for a wine list and then she had to go all the way downstairs to get one and then back up. Cocktails were exspensive and if there were any specials we weren't told about them.

Now for the food. Food seemed to come whever, regardless of who ordered when. The burgers were very thin and skimpy and the salmon burger was just weird. It was a thin salmon filet piece on top of the open bun, so that there was over half the bun not covered. It was just placed down the middle. It was not reall a burger. I had to cut it in half and rearrange it on the bun in order to make it a burger. The salmon was quite fishy tasting and some of the skin was still on so it was kinda gross, The fries were good though. However, portion sizes were uneven and some people got a ton of fries and other had very few. Not good for customers. Also, someone ordered onion rings and when they were served they were ice cold. They were sent back and all they did was rebatter and refry the already made cold rings. YUK. They were not eaten again. Why would they do that? They were therefore comped but so they should have been. Many of the ordered were incomplete, i.e. burgers with no lettuce/tomato etc. When you're short staffed already it would make sense to get the food orders correct so your wait staff isn't running up and down the stairs with food complaints.

Anyway, if I had to go back with a group or whatever, I'd go, but I'd never voluntarily go there again. There's too many good places to waste time and money at places like this. We left around 10 and there were only about 4 tables full of people. That's really the review in itself no?

Awesome Dine out!!!!
Submitted Monday, February 13, 2012 - 7:39pm [Dine in]

Where can you eat a fantastic 3 course meal for $18? What a great DOV deal!! Went with a group with reservations. We were sat promptly and the waiter promptly took out drink orders. The rum punch was excellent and good value in pitchers. We shared a few of these and we all recieved separate bills with the cost of all of the pitchers dvided evenly among those who were drinking it. So thoughtful.

Most of us had the plantain chips. I am not a fan of plantains but they were ok and the spicy dip they came with was incredible. Others at the table had a tomato type soup with cocomut milk and pronounced it deslish.

The main courses we had were jerk chicken or jerk tofu which came with peas and rice. Both were amazing and the sauce was spectaculat. Oh and the Johnny cakes - deep fried corn bread heaven. They were complimentary even with teh DOV menue and we got a second round free!

Dessert was fried banana with mango ice cream and caramel . No words. I could not even finish everthing, was suffed and stunned at the $18 tabl Best DOV value ever!

I will go back again.

Really Good Greek place
Submitted Tuesday, January 3, 2012 - 11:55pm [Dine in]

We ususally come here twice a year and always with an entertainment coupon. I like that fact that it has classier looking decor than most Greek restaurants. The staff is friendly and the food is good.

I really like the spanikopita here. It is very tasty and not greasy. The pita bread is fantastic but a little over priced I think for extra. Souvlakis are good, salads, Greek and Caesar among some of the best. Potatoes are ok. The only criticism is that for a Greek restaurant the portions are somewhat small. I don't really want huge portions but for the same price as other places there really aren't any leftovers, even the rice serving is a scant 1/2 cup.

Despite this with the coupon it's a nice dinner out.

Hangover Heaven!!!
Submitted Tuesday, December 6, 2011 - 9:24pm [Dine in]

Went to Ricky's after an office xmas party and nite at the Pan Pacific. Needed a great hangover fix and Ricky's did the job!! WOW - what a cure! Lotsa food and just the right amount of grease. One of the best omelettes I've had in years and they actually used fried onions inside. Too often they start with raw onions and they never cook. It was cheese, mushroomy and absoutely perfect. Hashbrowns were the crispy shredded kind and the sourdough toast was perfect and perfectly buttered. Hubby had a huge waffle and stuffed hashbrowns which he declared awesome.

This location is smaller andin a food court but is very diner-like. Waitress was a bit off and slow witted but our coffee was refilled often and was hot and fresh. I LOVE Ricky's!

and that is the Salmon chowder, which seems to have more potatoes and less salmon nowadays. I do stop in though everytime I go by, for the soup. They also have chili which seems to be popular and on occasion I've tried other soups which were pretty good.

They also have premade and made to order average sandwhiches and that gross heat lamp fried chicken potato wedges and other hot food.

Like the other reviewer said the place is really dirty and not a pleasant place to eat at all. I just get soup - to go.

Submitted Tuesday, December 6, 2011 - 8:48pm [Dine in]

Went for lunch with a group. I had never even heard of this place but some people had been before. The waitress was a total HAG with a major attitude. I gave her ZERO tip which was too much. She was so rude, trying to get us to order before all of our group had even arrived. Gave us total attitude when we wanted to wait for everyone, seemed stupefied when we asked for water and refused to give us separate bills even going so far as to say "NO I will NOT do separate bills." The stupid woman doesn't even get that you get bigger tips that way. What a dummy. I have seriously never wanted to hit a waitress before.

Anyway the food was not bad at all. The lunch specials were ridiulous - in a good way. If you order a drink(even just a pop) the entree is only $4.95!! The best entree seemed to be the chicken souvlaki which was one good sized skewer with tons of rice, tzatziki, pita and caesar salad. There pasta dished, burgers, sandwiches etc. For under $9 including tax no tip you get a huge lunch. I would definately go again and make a point not to sit in the bag's section.

Just the kind of place Poco needed. Too bad it's in a strip mall - the ambiance is ok - but sparse and looking over the parking lot is not inspiring. The waitress that we had was ok but not all that friendly. BUT, the food makes up for it all. The veggie burger was amazing and they make their own potato chips! Not often do you get hot potato chips. The stoups were fantastic as well and the desserts although we didn't try them looked great. We will be back to try the other menu items. Main Street quality funk hits Poco.

Submitted Wednesday, November 23, 2011 - 10:54pm [Dine in]

I used to like this place quite a bit and was a regular customer. I have had a few bad experiences in the last 6 months but kept giving it a try.

I ordered for pick up tonight. I went and got the food and when she read the order back to me there was one too many rolls. She said I had ordered 3 of one type of roll when I actually ordered two. The food was already packaged up. The roll was an inexpensive one. She actually went and opened up my bag and rifled through all the boxes until she found the "extra" roll and then slid it down to the sushi guy and had him pick it out. Was he going to throw it away? Serve it to someone else? Yuk and CHEAP. I was a regular customer, she made the mistake - was it worth losing me over? I guess so. Anyway, the California roll was superfishy and the cucumber roll constisted of six minscule pieces. Other places have much better quality, value AND manners.

Bland Bland Bland
Submitted Tuesday, November 15, 2011 - 10:05pm [Dine in]

I don't usually go to Tim's anymore. I don't really like their coffe much and don't eat many donuts. I went today because I was out and had a Tim card from Shoppers.

I had mushroom soup, which used to be thick and gagging. Now it was thinner but absolutely tasteless. It was supposed to be "Field mushroom" but any of the m ini mushroom pieces in it had never seen a field only the inside of a can. I have never had a processed soup require salt before but this stuff was that bland. Even 5 packs of pepper could not help it.

I also had a cheese bagel which was also tasteless even though it had orange melted stuff on the top. Event he herb and garlic cream cheese was not enough to make it taste like much. Both the soup and bagel were quite small.

I still need to taste something as I was not satisfied. I had a donut. It was sweet - bad texture - not much.
The whole thing was fairly nasty and not to be repeated unless I was starving. Corporate industrial slop.

$50 for breakfast for 3 - Seriously?
Submitted Monday, November 14, 2011 - 6:37pm [Dine in]

I am finding these breakfast places just cost too much. I can get a full delicious fresh cooked breakfast at my cafeteria in my office for under $6 including coffee. Why does this cost so much??

This IHOP is one of the newer ones, not the old 70;s ones. It is bland and boring. The music was SO loud at breakfast we could not even talk.

We had one order of chocolate chip pancakes with a side of hashbrowns, one order of some pancakes, one order of strawberry french toast, a side of sausage, 2 coffees, a hot chocolate and and a tip. FIFTY dollars. I'm still shaking my head. Good thing I was so stunned I did not feel like eating lunch so I saved money there. Really - McDonalds is not that much worse and a LOT less money.

What? Customers? What a surpise!
Submitted Tuesday, October 25, 2011 - 10:14am [Dine in]

Our sports team showed up on a Sunday afternoon. THere was about 20 of us and they were totally bewildered? Like they were not accustomed to having customers. They could not accommodate such a larege party. They had no staff. Seriously that's what the "manager" said. HE tried his best to discourage us but for some reason one person kept insisting. Would they have freaked out if 4 groups of 5 had wandered in. Why the heck would you not expect customers unless you suck?

We had to wait 15 minutes and the restaurant was empty but they finally got it together. If it were up to me I would have left the second they appeared not to want us.

Anyway the service was fine considering they had "no staff" . Some of the meals got mess up or were slow but it was alright. I was stunned at the number of fries that came with each burger - about 8. No kidding. They ask later if anyone wants more but who's going to say yes when most others don't

At the end the manager came up to one person, handed him his card and admonished him to "call ahead" next time. Like we would come back.

Ok so this chain is basically a carb loaded gut filler. Don't expect much else.

Went to this location while working and didn't have much time. The place was completely EMPTY - not ONE person in there on a Friday at 12:15 pm. That scared me right off. TOns of people eat out on Fridays especially. Ordered a veggie burrito that rang in at close to $8. What did I get for that? I torilla, tablespoon each of guacamole(75 Cents extra) sour cream some orange coloured white rice, a spoonful of black beans and salsa. That would seriously cost me like 75 cent to make at home.

It turned out as I said to be a gut busting carb load with very little if any flavour. It was all runny and messy because of the beans and salsa. I threw half out. THis location didn't even have all the bottles of hot sauce and tabsco that the other places have to liven their dull food up. I'd skip this place next time.

I haven't been to this place in over 15 years. I remember it being better. Maybe it wasn't and I just didn't know better. It's still the same. Decor is the same, but not dirty, just outdated. Waitress was acceptable but unmemorable. Stir fry guy was ok.

Went at lunch with an entertainment coupon so we got out for two of us for $20 including a tip. You get 25 percent off at lunch but not if you use the entertainment coupon.

The metal bowls were a bit bashed up but off we went. had mostly veggies anda few seafood items. The bok choy was brown and slimy. Other items were ok, but as others have said be careful what you choose. Lots of mushrooms and other realatively light veggies are best. The sauces really add weight as you have to add quite a bit like 3 or 4 ladels full to make it taste good. Serve with really gloppy hoisin sauce two rice paper thick wraps and rice (brown or white). It filled me up but did not ispire me to come again. DO NOT eat the free soups, the hot and sour was gross and the corn chowder was a gelatinous pasty mess.

McDonalds is Mcdonalds right? Not when you count in this one. I have had to go there 3 times now as I am doing some business in a building right near there. I have seriously seen few er grosser Mcds in my life anywhere in the world. It's like walking into your own little ghetto.

First of all the place is ALWAYS filthy. THere are napkins, food, wrappers and other un indentified garbage on the floor. It's like they don't even clean up during the day at all. I have had ketchup empty, seen, Happy meal toy displays empty and cracked and I was only brave enought to attemp the potty once -ew.

Enjoy the show from the patrons that consist mostly of crack and meth heads. Lots of screaming dirty kids as well. Where's the truant officer. It is a really small space too. The food is the same as any McDs but even the staff is a little slower here. Run......

I used to come to this place years ago and it was really dirty so I stopped. Came last week with partner and child. It has been decluttered and cleaned up - good sign. On a Friday night there were about 5 tables being used - not such a good sign.

The souvlakis were both good, prawn and chicken. Came with a thimble of tzatziki and they charged a dollar for each extra thimble. NOt impressed. The rice was boring and the potatoes were not real greek lemon potatoes just mushy roast potatoes. Pita was good but portions all around skimpy. The greek salad dressing is the best around though. At $18.95 each for souvlaki I thought it was downtown prices for burbs quality and atmosphere. The kids meal was atrocious with a small serving of spaghetti with tomato sauce well over $6 and then $3 for a drink and no dessert. Way below quality and standard price for most kids meals at higher quality restaurants. All in all so so. Would go again if someone else is paying.

This place was fantastic. I went with 3 girlfriends afterwork for an early dinner. It is busy, but my friend said there always seems to be one table and there was! The decor was fine for a normal Japanese restaurant.

The service was quick and the food excellent. Tempura was a little greasy but crispy and there were ALOT of pieces in an order. The rolls were done well especially the dynamite roll that had at least 2 fried shrimps. Also loved the inari and sunumono. If I lived closer I'd go every week. Try it, but save me at table. The value was incredible. The people who said it was expensive must normally eat at the AYCE or $1.99 sushi places.

Submitted Saturday, June 25, 2011 - 7:15pm [Dine in]

I was looking forward to this place as my nephew had a soccer game there at Gates park. I was however, NOT prepared for the price! I expected to get a burger and fries for maybe $6 as it is a take out place in a park. A cheese burger and fries was $10 same as in some sit down restaurants adn halibut and chips was $15!!! I'm not kidding. I remember going to the one in Richmond a few years ago and not being shocked by the prices.

i had a VEGGIE doog - one tofu weeinie in a bun and it rang up at $5. Not spectacular either, just average. they better revisist their price structure or they'll being going down soon.

Submitted Monday, May 2, 2011 - 9:53pm [Dine in]

I am not a fan of Whitespot. My niece wanted to go when I was visiting her in the Wack for her birthday. So off we went. The usual Whitespot "mystique" was carried out as usual when we arrived looked in the window from outside and saw 1/2 the restaurant was empty. But of course, the perky and dumb hostess says "can I get your name there's a 15 mintue or so wait". Why - half the freakin tables were empty??!! Al the lemmings were lined up to get their triple o fix I guess. I would not have graced them with my business if my neice had not wanted to stay. Twenty minutes later I'm pizzed when I see people who came in after me being seated. Genius hostess says "Oh I guess you didn't hear my call you". No because you didn't and I was sitting right in front of you the whole time.

We finally sit and order without incident. But, as usual, the food is gross. The fries in the kid's pirate pack were almost burt and inedible. The onion rings were so greasy I just about barfed after two. And the veggie burger was completely unmemorable.

I really would rather go to McDOnalds for under $10 than pay over $35 for this mess. Please, please go away Whitespot nobody likes you anymore. You're like the creepy old uncle that everyone's nice to because you used to be great, even though now you're weird and smell bad.
