Going Down Hill

Suprizingly this place had some really great, authentic Thai food and we order from here quite often. However the last couple times we have been really disappointed. The Penang curry has been getting smaller and smaller and comes with half of the ingredients of the Cashew Chicken, not enough for a decent meal.

This last time the Cashew chicken had NO flavour (tasting like bland Chinese, not Thai) despite asking for it HOT, it was like they forgot the chili all together. It was so bad that my starving partner, left half of his plate. I'm not sure if they have a new chef, but it's lacking the authenticity it once had.

Always Consistently Good

We eat here a LOT and it is usually always consistently good. They might have their off night on a slamming busy Friday night but you can always rely on a good meal for the money. There are not a lot of other restaurants in town, at that price point, where you can get equally as good food. Yes, you can get higher quality meals elsewhere, but you pay a lot more for it. You can also pay a lot more elsewhere and get not as good as a meal as you would at Havana. The atmosphere is good, always feels lively and the patio and cocktails are fantastic in the summer. Actually anytime really as they have excellent heaters and you can sit outside almost year around. The staff are good as well and the kitchen is usually on top of their game. One of our favorite local joints. Love their strawberry ginger mojito, their yam fries are awesome and you can take your pick of several good entrees for dinner or brunch.

Always Consistently Good Food, Good Value and Good Community

A great neighbourhood restaurant with consistently good food. This isn't a high class establishment by any means but it doesn't claim to be and the food is always great. Good comfort food & good value. The enchiladas are wonderful, very genuine. The place has a good sense of community as well always with a few locals there and always feels comfortable and lively. No pretense, no posers.

Very Average, but Overpriced

We went here tonight for dine out. Three of us had the scallops to start, they were pretty good, not great and the portions were very small. A fourth person had the salad which they enjoyed. Three of us had the tuna which was served rare as it should be, however it was also quite cold, very bland and not very pleasant over all. Definitely not note worthy and I would have been happy leaving it. Again, very small portions and no real veg to speak of; a couple of thin pieces of tuna, garnish and a bit of sauce. My partner had the beef which was a bit more hearty portion (relatively that is, not large by any standards; decent) and came with some sweet potato for some substance. This dish he enjoyed. Three of us got the apple crumble for dessert. Again, small & very average; I can do better at home. Good thing the bread was good as we were able to fill empty corners with that. The service overall wasn't bad but unfortunately left something to be desired as well, with entrees arriving as one of us was still eating his starter, not something he had lingered on as the rest of us had barely finished when our plates were whipped away and our entrees were brought. The timing was not good as we had no break in between and felt rushed. That said, it was $28 for the three courses so not bad value. If we had paid regular price or had it been a $38 dine out, we all would have quite upset. Overall, nothing stood out and the portion sizes were very small, I wouldn't be going back regardless of the price, there are much better places to dine in the same price range.
