This is one of the few restaurants near my work so I have had (too) many lunches at this place. I only go here because it's within walking distance and people from work make me. The menu is pretty boring and although I have tried a number of things now - from the chicken pot pie to the burgers... they are all mediocre at best, and seem to be overpriced for what you actually get. A few servers in particular are always wonderful - very friendly, attentive and always on top of things. A few other servers are not. The burgers are dry. Once had the "special" of turkey and swiss sandwich with soup for about $10, and what I got was a realllly greasy grilled cheese sandwich with some lunch meat inside, and soup that tasted like it came from a can. Not a single green on my plate. Won't be getting that again.

I like this place because they're usually very accomodating for large groups. I recently went here with a group of 20 and we all sat on the patio. Server did a good job considering we were all pretty rowdy. I had the clubhouse with yam fries and it was decent, but I wasn't a fan of the pink sauce they put in the sandwich. My one peeve is that you always have to squish through a gauntlet of chairs to get through to the stairs that lead to the bathrooms.

Also, music bingo wednesdays is the best thing ever. LOVE IT. Not sure if they still have this? If not, they should revive it.

Good Value and Yummy

Went here for lunch and had chicken satay on vermicelli... left feeling very full and very satisfied. Attentive service and cute patio that tries to sheild out the traffic noise and construction on Westminster Hwy. Wish it was in a nicer less-traffic-y part of Richmond, but other than that it's a nice little spot that I'll be sure to visit again and recommend to others.

good basic breakfast

Went here for a late breakfast on a Sunday and had their basic eggs, hash, sausage and toast. Nice big portion, yummy home fries and eggs scrambled to perfection. Fast service on the patio, however the 2-person table we were seated at was really tiny and a bit cramped, but it beats being inside on a sunny day. Waitress kept forgetting to refill my coffee but was cute about it when I reminded her for the third time. Would definitely come here again for breakfast!

hurry up and wait
Submitted Monday, January 28, 2008 - 1:52pm [Dine in]

Every time I've been here I've had to wait a good 30 minutes before being seated. Make sure you put your name on the wait list at the BAR when entering. Because I failed to notice the tiny sign on the door that said this, the waitress was about to give a table to another party, despite my standing at the uber-tiny entrance for 30 minutes... thankfully the other party was understanding so I got a table anyways. But c'mon, if this is the way they seat tables then it'd be simple enough to just acknowledge people upon their arrival and ask if they want to be added to the list.

Anyways. Food was tasty. The ambiance is funky and neat, but it felt horribly cramped and tiny, especially when seated in the center row of tables. If only this place had more space, it would be much much better.

Plan B Lounge & Eatery1144 Homer Street, Vancouver
fancy shmancy & pricey

I was really impressed with the attentive service we had for the entire night. Also really enjoyed the loungey atmosphere and not-too-loud background music. They have neat details everywhere, like the mosaics in the center of the tables.

This place isn't really my 'thing', as it is really pricey and there are no beers on tap ($5.75 for a bottle of beer). If you're a wine person or like coctails etc. then they've got you covered. Tapas were really tasty and unique but you sure don't get a lot for what you have to pay. There were 4 of us, 4 rounds of drinks and 4 appies, the bill came to about $215 + tax and tip. Ouch.

Totally cheap, totally awesome. They play instrumental covers of the songs you used to like in the 80s and early 90s... it's a fun game to try and recognize the song. You'll probobly hear the same song 3 times over the course of your meal. Also fun to find the grammatical errors in their menu. I'm itching to try the "banana vocano", despite it's accompanying menu picture.

All in all, pretty bad service, but whatever, it's cheap and still yummy. Place always has room and is quiet and relaxing.

This place always has a nice selection of fresh hot veggie dishes. Lentil stew is yum. They serve generous portions for a cheap and very affordable lunch that will actually leave you feeling full. One of my favorite places for lunch out of all the fast food choices at City Square.
