Duffin's Donuts1391 41st Avenue East, Vancouver
Lomo Torta Sub
Submitted Wednesday, September 30, 2009 - 1:59pm [Dine in]

I've been going to Duffin's since their location on Main Street. The new location is solid. Forget all other torta subs; $3.95 buys the best pork sandwich in town. The roll is crusty and the fried pork cutlet has just the right amount of fat and seasoning. Plus, the doughnuts are pretty amazing, as well. I especially like the old fashioned donuts with custard. Worth the drive.

Love that sandwich!

Stella's on Cambie is a brisk walk from my home. I have been using it as a meeting spot for my friends and I for mostly drinks in the evening. The gothy-chick bartender is super friendly and always makes us feel welcome. Recently, a few of us met for lunch; I've been back a few times since...I really love the Montreal-style sub sandwich that is on the lunch menu. I may go and get one right now!

Glad to revisit the Locus
Submitted Monday, August 11, 2008 - 2:22am [Dine in]

The Locus is a real neighbourhood restaurant; I wanted to bring my out-of-town guests for some brunch and local colour. There was some hesitancy on my part, since brunch can involve long waits, frantic service and some lacklustre egg dishes. However, this Sunday was like one that I have not seen for years. It reminded me why I love the Locus. The atmosphere and service were convivial. The owner was charming and the food was outstanding. The bread baskets were warm, the coffe strong and our bennies were spot-on. I suspect that some changes have been made since my last brunch experience there. What else can I say? I'm gushing...

I laughed out loud!
Submitted Tuesday, July 1, 2008 - 11:51pm [Dine in]

I had a hearty chuckle when I read the review of Incendio West and the snooty waiter! I finally dragged my husband to the Burrard Cinema this past Saturday and he was reluctant to go back to Incendio after our last experience with that same server. I have dined all over the planet and I have never been made to feel so insignificant by a server. So, I was prepared and asked our lovely hostess to not be seated in his section. She gave us a sly, amused glance and informed us that he was no longer employed with the restaurant. I must say that our pizzas have never tasted better and the staff were lively & welcoming. I will look forward to returning before my next movie date! Ciao
