Caffe Vergnano 18822581 West Broadway, Vancouver
Finally some real Espresso!!!
Submitted Saturday, July 11, 2009 - 9:29pm [Dine in]

Just came back from Europe and had their "1882" coffee in London. Can't believe I am having their coffee again in Vancouver!! Desserts are great. Yummm.. The server said the berries for the Mixed berry cheesecake I had is hand-picked in Italy. It's hard to believe but it's REALLY GOOD!
Espresso is made perfectly. A+++++ for everything, highly recommended. A little pricey on the drinks, but the cake is only $6 and it's like a meal to me. I don't remember what time they open. But they open late on Friday and Saturday. So that's good! Some new desserts place to hang out with friends.

MSG all the way
Submitted Monday, January 15, 2007 - 6:55pm [Dine in]

Went downtown late night w/ my bf and found this restaurant was packed so we thought we should give it a try. As he never tried Korean style soju so I ordered the Aloe soju for him. We both loved it. We ordered the JapChea and Pork bulgogi, we've no comment on the food, my bf hated it and doesn't wanna finish it / pack it. One word to the food --- "MSG"!!! Well, I would say it's a place to hang out and drink, because they of all kind of soju. I would go somewhere else for food.

They improved once again!

I had a wonderful dining experience with family and friends on New Year Eve at SFC. I was so glad that we made a reservation ahead of time, the restaurant was "full house" and not accepting "walk-in" that night.
The food was exquisite. They have added more dishes to the menu!! Each plate was carefully prepared, definitely above average for a reasonable price. We've always enjoyed how Chef BennyC explained each dish to us. He is always so passionate about his culinary creations.
It was a perfect evening. I highly recommend SFC! Everything was still excellent! I will return for sure, possibly until I've tried the entire menu.

George1137 Hamilton Street, Vancouver
One of the best lounge in town
Submitted Monday, August 28, 2006 - 11:03pm [Dine in]

Me and my boyfriend had a walk around yaletown, checking out if there is any restaurants that would worth to try. We saw the big "G" in the front door which was very eye catching, then we saw the lighting inside the bar. We went in for a drink.

I have to say the atmosphere is very inviting and the service was good. It was last-call when we went into the lounge, we didn't have a chance to try the food there. And I don't see anyone eating there.. everyone is too busy enjoying their drinks. Anyways, we had a tour around the lounge and found that they even have a private room with a LCD for a small party of 4-5 ppl (i m not sure how many ppl can pack into the space, I m just guessing for 4-5ppl). Nick, the bar manager, made us the drinks, the cocktails were incredible, the fruits were all freshly squashed. Yummy!

it's been awhile in finding a nice bar & lounge with great people around (who have class) and great atmosphere. I would say George is a great place to get together w/ love ones or friends who are high maintenance.

Abigail's Party1685 Yew Street, Vancouver
A bit disappointed
Submitted Monday, August 28, 2006 - 10:06pm [Dine in]

Me and my boyfriend enjoy trying new restaurant, so I did a little research on the web and see if there is any new tapas restaurant opened around the lower mainland. And I found a few reviews about Abigail's Party and the pictures on their website is so tempting, so I decided to give it a try.

Me and my boyfriend went there for on his bday. The atmosphere and the server were incredible. The drinks are fine. But the food, is not what I expected..

Drinks, we had the Leeloo and Glamorama. Then we tried the "Curried Scallop Salad", Mussel Hot Pot, spicy prawn and the "Rosemary-Scented Grilled Lamb Sirloin". I had to say, I never had any Lamb Sirloin in my life that is that burnt. Not only it was overly cooked, me n my bf have to slice the burnt meat to be able to eat it (or chew it like gum). We didn't finish the dish 'coz we can't stand the burnt. The Hot Pot, seems to me it was just a bowl of instant rice noodle w/ seafood, I don't think the soup was as said lobster broth base. The most favorable dish was the spicy prawn, cooked perfectly and the sauce is so good, i almost dip myself into it. No comment on the salad, 'coz wasn't something very memorable, it was just a "salad".

My overall experience is that I won't recommend my friends to go there to eat. I think it's a fine place to chill and have a couple of drinks w/ friends. Also, in my opinion, all the reviews are overly rated about this restaurant. I feel so bad that I brough my bf there for bday.
