Cheap but Good Chinese food
Submitted Sunday, December 9, 2012 - 5:32pm [Dine in]

We've driven by this restaurant before and never knew it existed. Finally tried it for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Nothing elegant about this restaurant and it is a bit dated, but if you want cheap and good eats and craving Chinese food, give this a try. Much better priced and tastier than Westview Chinese restaurant, but nothing compared to higher end Kirin. Good value if you just want to stay on the North Shore.

Great Discovery
Submitted Sunday, December 9, 2012 - 3:56am [Dine in]

Tried Jolly's because of a Groupon deal and we were not disappointed. The place gets really crowded as there's limited seating. Put your name down and they will call your cell once your table is ready. We had the butter chicken and the okra dish. Great presentation, great taste, great service! This is a real neighbourhood gem! Their naan bread is to die for! Garlic flavoured and amazingly tasty!

Kirin Mandarin Restaurant1172 Alberni Street, Vancouver
The BEST Chinese Food Restaurant
Submitted Sunday, December 9, 2012 - 3:53am [Dine in]

This Kirin restaurant location is my absolute favorite! The quality of food and service is impeccable! The dim sum menu always features monthly specials as well as their tried and true fare. Make reservations so you won't have to wait as this location tends to be very busy especially on weekends. Dinner is also outstanding with dishes like Peking duck, steamed oysters with garlic, seafood chow mein (crispy noodle). They have very fresh seafood and all of the dishes we've ordered to date have been excellent. Managed excellently with great people and very attentive staff. Park in the underground parking and bring your ticket to be reimbursed. Kirin Alberni is the BEST!

Quality Dim Sum
Submitted Sunday, December 9, 2012 - 3:46am [Dine in]

This is a great place to have a relaxing dim sum. Fresh ingredients, attentive staff, overall great quality. I would recommend their spicy deep fried squid, har gow, and steamed abalone chicken buns. Dinner is also great with the Peking duck and crispy noodle seafood chow mein.
Parking is free for the first 2 hours; be sure to bring your ticket to be validated. If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of Chinatown or Richmond and have great Chinese food, Kirin restaurants will not disappoint. I noticed several awards on their walls while waiting. It's no wonder they are one of the top Chinese food restaurants in the city. Also try Kirin Alberni which I love, love, love!

BIG Disappointment
Submitted Sunday, December 9, 2012 - 3:38am [Dine in]

Food here tasted like it was frozen or pre-packaged - not freshly made. Waste of money. Stopped by tonight and was very disappointed with the food and the lack of quality. It didn't help that the band that was playing was also not very good. They've got all these posters for New Year's Eve posted all over the bar and near the washrooms...seriously? Who would want to fork out $$$ for such a dive and awful tasting food to boot! Tried to talk to the manager, I think his name was Doug, who was inattentive and passively aggressively rude! The owners of this pub are losing out on potential income based on the bad management and horrible food! YUK!!!
