Time: 8:30pm on a Saturday night (only a few tables occupied)
Ambiance: the inside decor is casually elegant...nothing too grandiose or flamboyant. Very classic Tuscan feel to the place.
Service: Excellent experience; very pleasant, prompt, friendly and helpful waiter. We asked what his advice on what to order and his choices did not go amiss. None of the airs that previous reviews speak of (perhaps we lucked out?).
Food: Heavenly! We tried the smoked duck with truffle oil ($14), the halibut (with pistachios, pesto: $20) and the seared ahi tuna with sesame (and pear $28). They were all exquisite..although my favorite would have to be the duck. The dessert we had were the hazelnut creme brulee, tiramisu and the chef's specialty ($5-7 each). They were all perfectly concocted. I also have to add that the presentation of the dishes is beautiful.
All these dishes including some non-alcoholic drinks and a soup came to under $100 dollars (not including tip). Perhaps the best restaurant in (or out of) Vancouver for Italian! Will definetely be back.
(As for the parking complaints: there's a very well lit small parking lot less than 1/2 block from the restaurant..so I don't quite understand all the fuss about the parking lot behind the reastaurant...plus, why would you want to enter a restaurant from the back? Take the extra 3 minutes and walk through the front.)
