Pasta Polo2754 Barnet Hwy, Coquitlam
One of our favourite places
Submitted Wednesday, October 10, 2007 - 6:38pm [Dine in]

We have eaten at Pasta Polo many times, and have yet to be disapointed by the food. I can attest to the fact that service is sometimes flaky, but generally we get good service, and the servers are always friendly. Only once can I recall an experience where our waiter never came around to our table, and now I try to avoid his section.

We really like the restaurant because you get very good food at reasonable prices in an ambience that is family-friendly. I think that its popularity speaks volumes about its food, and this popularity is probably a big reason for the inconsistent service. When I complained about that one server, they were very polite and sent me home with a takeaway dessert.

Aroma Indian Restaurant3260 Coast Meridian Rd, Port Coquitlam
Delicious Indian food
Submitted Wednesday, October 10, 2007 - 6:26pm [Dine in]

We are so lucky in this area to have a number of really good Indian restaurants (my favourite are the Aroma, the Bombay and the GM in Maple Ridge).

I have to disagree with the person who said the food tastes like it comes from a jar--it is homemade, as anyone in the restaurant can tell when they catch a glimpse of the cooks and the kitchen!

The owner is a very genial and generous man who often adds little extras to your meal.

Matteo's Gelato2615 Mary Hill Road, Port Coquitlam
Best Gelato
Submitted Wednesday, October 10, 2007 - 6:23pm [Dine in]

Matteo's is a family-run business that seems to make customer service its top priority. I've been to other gelato places that limit tasters, but at Matteo's, the servers often encourage you to try more!

The serving sizes are generous (in fact, my only beef about Matteo's is that they don't have a smaller portion than their "small", which is, in my mind, quite large!) and the prices are very good.

The gelato is all made on-site and comes in lots of delicious flavours. Not as many as one gelato place in the lower mainland, but I like the quality of the flavours better than any other gelato place!

Matteo's also does coffee, espresso, and light meals. The place is often hopping, especially in the summer and evenings--it seems to be a real meeting place in downtown Port Coquitlam.
