It was late night round 7-8pm my family and I were on the prowl for some Indian food I've ordered delivery from here before and was appeased with the food.
Dinning in was a mistake as my children didn't eat and my husband and I only ate. Wow talk about over priced for the three dishes we ordered We literally had a high ratio of sauce to meat in the curries.
I'm normally not negative but when I spend $100+ on a meal I expect top notch service and great food. The food tasted good but not for the over price. Family restaurant pricing? I think not. Maybe Dakshin should remove the "family restaurant "part of their sign, if my kids did eat that night we would have been charged high-class pricing for mediocre family restaurant Indian food.
Word for the wise eat here when your not hungry maybe you won't feel so ripped off.

Before moving to Canada I guess you could say I've been pretty ignorant to Indian style cuisine. I've tried my hand at numerous restaurants in the Vancouver surrounding area specializing in that and have been disappointed on the most half.
Butter chicken has become one of my new found favorites and I've been to numerous restaurants dinner or buffet and have been dissappointed due to dryness. Utsav has my new vote when butter chicken is involved. My spouse and I enjoyed a last minute lunch decision and ended up at Utsav's lunch buffet out of curiousity.
The price was typical to other Indian buffets in the area and the design was very exotic and cozy at the same time. The place seemed very "mom n pop" like, as the waiter seated us he quickly conversated on his cell phone in the distance enough to raise our eybrows at unprofessionalism hmmm...
The food was well presented not "leftover looking" like some of the previous buffets I've been too. I believe the naan wasn't that presentable but when my spouse requested fresh the server never hesitated and came back quickly with fresh naan. Definately making up for the previous akward cell phone incident. We never had to go fishing for chicken or lamb in the curries, awesome as we've been disappointed at numerous restaurants before.
One thing for me that was reassuring was an efficient smiling waiter/server as for many of the Indian restaurants in Surrey I wonder if it would crack their faces if they smiled. All in all Utsav can count me in as a regular.
I've read some previous negative reviews hopefully my experience is regards for a second chance!
