(3.5) (4) (3) (3.5) (3)I have had lunch here 3 times and have been very impressed. It is run by sisters, partners and a nephew with a Greek influence. The actual soup, sandwich and salads on offer seem to be more of a Mediterranean mix with considerable California inspiration. They are very friendly and greet all very warmly. The Roast Beef with horseradish sauce on Chibatta bread was 100% excellent. Flavour filled beef sliced just right. It was topped with three types of vegetables (as I recall) and not the usual lettuce and tomato slice. It was served with celery sticks and a Greek sauce on the side. They have some homemade desserts like cookies and muffin - a limited choice but high quality.
On another day I had a sliced smoked turkey Panini - I don’t know the cheese used but the taste combination was wonderful.
Nicely decorated inside the shop and cafe features some unusual gourmet items mixed in with same products all good deli food stores offer. They have about 8 indoor table and several outdoor seats. They do more outdoor seating in summer.
The coffee didn't appeal to me at all. I commented yesterday on how good the food was (January 14th 2012) and they said others had commented. So they are installing a proper espresso machine. I will certainly keep coming back.
They do dinners once night aweek for seniors and it seems necessary to book.
When bread and deserts are this good people find out even if the location is obscure. This family owned business is behind bushes and underneath a little strip mall on the corner of Crescent Beach Rd and 128th St. They do a large range of breads and rolls with organice locally ground grains. The colors shapes and textures are sometimes unusual only because the offer local milled and ground grains. Traditonal bacqettes wer crisps and seemed very authentic. The brioche was superb. The have meat tarts that use all spice or some such to give a distinct tang. I have tried about 7 itmes in 3 visits and have not been disappointed yet.
The servicde counter and cash register postion is terrible- they couldn't have positioned it in a worse spot. The serviuce is friendly but very slow.
The aromas and very visible kitchen areas mean it is not only transparent but its alluring.
