nice restaurant, not so nice food.

Went to this restaurant last week. Got there and had to wait for the waitress to clean and set up a table for us eventhough there are empty tables. Not sure why the need to sit us there but i don't care cause i'm there for food.

The restaurant is very nice and cozy. It's not too big, lots of wine on display and nice ambiance all around. Very fine dining indeed.

The menu is pretty big, with lots of choices from meat, seafood, pasta, to platters. We opted for calamari and the stuffed pasta platter.
The calamari was delicious but very small portion. It is the reason why the food rating in this review is a 2 instead of a 1 actually.

The platter came in a big oval plastic plate thingy. Very dollar store feel. No matter, cause i'm there for food. There were 4 different types of pasta and sauces all together. Let's just say that there was only one good sauce in there. Everything else was not good. Pasta that's dry and tasteless even with stuffing inside. Sauces that don't go with the pasta pairing. Oh and the whole thing wasn't even that hot.

Overall very disappointing for pasta. But i would go back to try their other meat entres before i put this restaurant in the do not go list.

nothing memorable but nothing bad.

Been to this restaurant twice for lunch. Very average for everything. Nothing really stands out for being good nor bad. The food is decent, the services is friendly enough, the place is clean, the prices are not too bad. Food come pretty quick. The burgers are not bad although last time the buns are kinda dry. Would go back because it's not bad and sometimes it's just convenient.

Ok food but not award worthy.

This restaurant has won alot of awards. Therefore the expectation was quite high. And i must say i'm dissapointed.

The service is very friendly but be prepare to wait as they tend to get very busy. Parking is also a nightmare when they are having their busy nights.

The food is nothing special. Very average as in you could get the same dish with the same quality and taste from any other chinese restaurant. The food also tend to be on the oily side. One praise would go to their chicken with green onion in a soup broth. That dish is very well done.

Used to be worst, a lot worst.

Ate here not long ago and to my surprise not that bad anymore.

This is the white spot that fooled me twice, and yes i know, fooled me twice shame on me. But just had to go the second time to see if they were really that bad. But this last time after a few years, it was actually ok.

The food used to be overcooked, like salmon that chew like a chicken in your mouth kinda overcooked. Now the food are nicely done, nothing special but nicely done as it suppose to be.

Service is ok. Friendly server but the host just doesn't seem like she welcomes you at all because there was no smile and friendly greetings. Just "hi, for two?" and lead you to your table.

Can't get more for the price.

$10. Seriously what more do you expect from $10? I've paid 3 times the price for butter chicken that is no way as good as this place and this place is only $10 for a buffet.

Yes selection is not as impressive for a buffet, however the food just taste too good for me to care. It is true that sometimes they might be running out of something or even only have bits and pieces left swimming in abundance of sauce, but everytime we just point it out and a new batch is served before you can even start whinning about your $10.

Oh and their chai latte is way better than 99% of the cafes out there.

Quickest pho ever!
Submitted Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - 2:35pm [Dine in]

Service is your usual pho place. A nice friendly hi and then sit you down right away, tea comes just after you've finished taken off your jacket.

The soup taste good and hot unlike some places only warm. From the moment you finished ordering to you getting your food, this place is the quickest i've ever experienced.

One thing i don't like about this place is their rice dishes. They are not as good as some other pho place.

Decent place to get a fix for pho.
Submitted Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - 2:29pm [Dine in]

This place is a quick and easy place for a fix of pho. The pho is average, the rice dishes are good, the vermicelli bowls are also average, and their vietnamese subs are good.

Food comes quite quickly. The wait staffs here is pretty good up til you've settle down and got your food. After that you have to pretty much get their attention to ask for anything else such as more tea or more water.

This is one of the restaurant in our regular rotation after our games. Good bubble tea, very good individual hot pot, nice selection of tasty appertizers, and consistently new items on the menu.

Food are very consistent in this place. They always taste the same. The hot pot and the bbq plates come promptly. However, be prepare to wait for some of their special items on the menu such as the green onion chicken. But the waitresses there will always inform you after you've ordered that the wait time for your dish is roughly about 20 mins so you won't be caught off guard and waiting cluelessly.

Went here as a group of 8. The restaurant decor is poor, only a few paintings and posters on the wall. Waited for a while before we get any water. Service has got to be the slowest and worst you can experience because there were only 2 people working there. One is the owner/cook/server, the other just well do nothing. However, if you do like malaysian food, you need to eat here at least once. Just ignore the service and enjoy the food.

Food are very good. Very authentic but some are a bit spicy. Their teh talek is right on the money with what you can get in malaysia.

If you are planning to go, go early because they close at 8pm. I don't blame him cause it's hard running a restaurant with only yourself.

This is our favourite malaysian restaurant in the lower mainland. The food is simple but tasty just like real malaysian food, we know cause we are from malaysia :)

Reservation is highly recommended because this restaurant is not that big and it is extremely busy especially during the weekend.

Some of the dishes we like are their satay, mutabak, char bee hun, char kueh teuw, and their sambal combo veggie. Portion for entrees is decent but i find that some of their appies are overpriced for the portion.

Went there 2 days ago for lunch. The decor is nothing special as with every other family run restaurant. Friendly service as soon as we got into the door. We ordered their drip coffee, mine came with some coffee grind on the side of the dripper. To my surprise he apologized and bring it back in to clean it before bringing it back to me. That's why i gave it a 4 for service. Because to me coffee grinds on a coffee dripper is normal and not a big deal.

Ordered their house special pho and the special chicken pho. This is the first time that a chicken pho comes with real chicken chunks instead of turkey!! The soup is kinda sweet but still on the good side. Everything else is just your typical pho restaurant.

I will definitely go back to this restaurant because their menu's variety is just too huge to be able to judge how good this restaurant is.

Bad food, decent service.
Submitted Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - 12:30pm [Dine in]

Went there yesterday for lunch with my gf. The server was very friendly and attentive but that's maybe because we are the only table at that time, around 12:40pm.

ordered the follow:
a cup of coffee, only luke warm, pretty weak tasting also.

a cup of seafood chowder, pretty darn good.

2 pieces cod and chip, the combined weight of the cod are probably about 200g, they look like those cod fillets that come in a box in the frozen dinner section in superstore. And i paid $12 for that, guess i'm the sucker here.

Smoked salmon omellete. Taste pretty good with the cream cheese inside. Fried potatoes are not as nicely done as they should have been.

Will not go back again considering all the choices of restaurant on that strectch of waterfront.

Best congee in town, good milktea too.
Submitted Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - 12:18pm [Dine in]

This restaurant is consistently good with their food. They taste the same everytime. We always get their congee because they are the best we can get in town. They have anything from $3 deep fried squab, which taste awesome btw, to crap and lobster. One advice though, they are not that great with fried rice. Everything else they are very good.

They have limited wait staffs so when they get busy service might be poor. Parking is pretty limited too if it's peak dining hour.

Another chinese restaurant that is good because the food is good. Everything else is either poor or just so so. First of all, do not expect good service at this restaurant unless you know the wait staffs. The restaurant's decor is nothing to write about either, but man can they produce good tasting food.

The dishes that i like in there are the black cod and the crispy chicken in special sauce. They used to have good set menu also but they recently changed the content of their set menus which in my opinion not a good value anymore. It's better to order from their regular menu.

This is where you go to get some good japanese food. The portion is average, the quality of the food is good, the price is lower than most, the service is average, so overall this restaurant would be on my top 5 for japanese food just because the food is good.

Keep in mind this place doesn't have fancy smancy neo japanese food. No fusion cooking technique or pretentious presentation of food either, just solid good quality food that taste like japanese food in japan.

Bad japanese food.
Submitted Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - 11:46am [Dine in]

Had dinner there the other night. Used to go to the old restaurant that was in there. Walked in and was asked if wanted regular menu or all you can eat. Opted for the regular menu. Service was friendly and tea came pretty quickly. Ordered chicken teriyaki and some rolls.

Chicken teriyaki doesn't have enough sauce on it therefor not much taste to it. Just plain old chicken. Had to put soya sauce on it to make my own chicken dish lol. Rolls were so so. This poor rating was given because it's just not acceptable for a store front restaurant to have worst food then what you can get in T&T or even the food court.

Pretty good but not awesome
Submitted Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - 11:39am [Dine in]

Went there last night with my gf. Had their kawawa ramen which is a miso ramen. The broth is decent, the fatty pork is good but not as tender as it should be. Portion is not too bad.

Gf had their combo B which has a miso ramen and a small bowl or cha shu don. The miso broth is not as rich as in the kawawa ramen but tasted that they are from the same base. The cha shu don is ok, not too spectacular. Also had gyozas which are pretty tasty i must say.

Overall this ramen house is pretty decent. Like the title says, pretty good but not awesome. Would go again if shopping inside metrotown.
