Ganache was on a short-list of three bakeries from which I would order a black forest cake from for my girlfriend's bday. They were actually my second choice, but since the other establishment couldn't provide me with a cake on such short notice (three days), I called Ganache.
The cake was MUCH better than I expected (especially since it's a Parisian patisserie making a German torte). In fact, it was the best black forest cake I've EVER had. Period. It was soft, not overly sweet, and very moist. It was very beautifully decorated and looked 'fancy'. I'm glad it looked as good as it tastes!
I ordered my cake to go since it was for a bday party. My gf has a severe peanut allergy which I mentioned to them. They were very good about it and there were a few post-it notes on the box reminding the staff of the no-peanut requirement. I was very happy to see that. Their website says to have custom orders placed a week in advance. I was able to get mine on three days' notice, so I consider myself lucky. Also, Black Forest Cake is not on the list, but they were willing to make it. That is what I consider astounding customer service!
Value? I paid $55+taxes for a 10" off-menu Black Forest Cake. Compared to the dry $89 cake that I bought a few years ago at True Confections, this was a STEAL! Their individual-sized offerings seemed to be priced a little more decadently, but I don't think it's over and above what you'd expect from a boutique.
As for the ambiance, I didn't stay and eat in, but it looked nice and the decor of very modern. It's a little tight so they don't have much room for dine-in customers. I only deducted one star because of the lack of room, but you can enjoy the desserts anywhere anyways so it's not that big of a deal in the end.
