Must have been our lucky day as we took a chance and went to this place on a Sunday morning around 11 am without a reservation and got a table right away.

We had the seafood hot and sour soup, sho long bao, and a couple of other dishes and the food was excellent.

The service was good and the value was decent, since I am a strong believer that you get what you pay for, I have no complaints about the prices as I would spend a bit more and be both mentally and physically satisfied.

Will return on a regular basis and try other ites on the menu.

Highly recommended.

Went here for a lunch and found that the food was ok for the $9.95 menu but eh portions were very small and it takes forever for th food to arrive. So their strategy is to have small portions, take a long time to serve up those small portions and before you know it lunch time is up and one has to get back to the office...... hungry.
The taste of the ayce food is ok but slow service and portions sizes suck.

Poor Poor Service
Submitted Sunday, April 12, 2009 - 5:04pm [Dine in]

Went here on a wet and windy Sunday for some comfort food.
We ordered 9 dishes and the only thing that was passable was the sho long bao but everyting else was small in size and very bland.
No value in the food and the service was the sh*ts, no tea pot refills even though we had the lid on the tea poit and the hot water pot tilted for a 1/2 hour (traditional signal for more water please)

The funny chicken was a joke and the hot and sour soup was way to watery , lacked any significant ingredients and was not flavorful enough.

Will not be going back, Top Shanghai is at the "bottom" in my books.
Will try Shanghai Wonderful and Dinesty again for sure.

Come here quite often with the boys for a great lunch. The food is good as I always order the roasted veal or the chicken schnitzel.
The meal includes soup and a bun for about 8 bucks.
The service is always good and attentive and the food arrives quite quickly. This place is will stay on the go to list for lunch, will try their dinner menu sometime soon.
By the way their calemari appy is very good also.

Went there with the family of 4 and waited and waited for our food so long that I should have brought my razor and toothbrush.
The noodle dish I ordered was too greasy and such a small portion that the cumulative experience was extremely frustrating.

I guess if you order the congee or dumplings then you might get your food quicker since they prep it up front behind the glass partition, but anything you order from the kitchen will rival the time it took to build the Great Wall. The place was not even busy when we were there, since the staff was having a lunch break also, however their food was prep quickly.

Will not be back as I said to my wife "A" that maybe the table we were assigned is jinx as I remember the last time we were there we had the same table and the service was also terrible and slow, I believe in feng shui.

Noot going back

Went there on a Saturday night with some friends for a birthday.
The food was good as always and the service was excellent. They served the birthday cake and the guests of honor even rec'd some comp'd drinks.

This place appears smaller than their W Bdway location but the service, food and value is always excellent and I would recommend this establishment to everyone who enjoys sukiyaki style food.

Keep up the good work!

Small family runned restaurant on Oak St. which is OK.
There is value here but the quality is only acceptable.
We ordered 4 dishes and they got 1 wrong but we decided to accept it and did not complain.

Only in a pinch, will we be back since the food has been a bit westernized. Take out business appears to be pretty brisk as the phone was ringing abit when we were there and pickup orders were being prepared.

Went to this clean well runned establishment for a bowl of noodle soup and found the noodles and pork bone broth to be excellent.
Service was friendly and professional. Line-ups are becoming the normat lunch but the turn-over-rate is quick. Well worth the short wait as my belly was content for the entire afternoon at work.

Will be back with friends.

Soggy Mess
Submitted Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - 11:38am [Dine in]

Went to this place because I love burgers, just like Wimpy on Popeye, but the deluxe cheese burger was a soggy mess and the meat was burnt. I think they re-heat the meat patties from the day before.

Waste of time and money. Will give another location another chance but the Granville St. location has a clueless staff.

I don't think Survivorman would eat here.
