This "home-away-from-home" pub/dining room will please anyone seeking a refuge, great food and the most inventive selection of Belgian beers this side Bruge. For the first packed week of an opening I was amazed by how well they performed. I drive by daily on my commute and it has been jumping at all hours. My experience included earth-rocking 'taquitos' (which alone would bring me back), beautifully cooked halibut atop a creamy risotto with proscuito and peas, and a trio of creme brules with lots of candied crust on top. All washed down with an apricot beer that tasted like a mix of champagne and nectar (for the non-beer drinking types)
Perhaps as enjoyable as the food and service was the atmosphere. Both Stella's have managed to capture the feeling of a neighborhood pub where you could plant yourself for the evening, but as an encore, the Cambie street location has thrown in a rather sophisticated dining experience and turned up the volume with some fancier fare along with the familiar mussels, frites and tapas. All in all....the most enjoyable night out in a long time. There was a great feeling of comraderie in the air which likely marks the rebirth of a community that has been plagued by noise, traffic jams, and closed businesses. Thank you Stella's for breathing new life into my community, you've earned a place in my heart and tummy. Till next time!

I am a regular at Stella's simply because I consistently get excellent service, amazing meals and I love the relaxed homey atmosphere.
While I am a food snob extrordinaire and like to be adventuresome in my eating....there are a few items that always please and which I crave which keeps me returning.
The orleans mussels are incredible and if you throw some fries into the broth you will soak up every delicious morsal.
The poutine is decadent and reminds me of my last visit to Montreal.
A charcuterie plate that rocks! and is great for lunch.
And finally the best Sunday brunch in the city. Forget the old standbys there is nothing on that brunch menu that could possibly dissappoint. Stella's breakfast is my favorite because they make my eggs perfectly, the sausage is smoky and toast is buttered to the edges. I couldn't do it better myself!!!
Although I am not a beer connasseur, I do love the kriek.
Check this place out as it is truly a special eatery with a great vibe.
