I read many reviews in favor of this place and wanted to try it for a long time.. and finally it happened- and it was excellent- best of all greek restaurant I've had so far in BC. first the decor- as I read the reviews some didn't kije it- I thought it's beautiful and reminded me of big cities restaurants. the acoustic is not so good- but the advantage is that the nearby tables also don't really hear you.
and the food- by far best roast lamb I ever had- looked as if it was cooked for hours. the chicken souvlaky was also very good- all portions are very generous and filling. the moussaka was good- but I had others at least similar in taste.
The service was good- not too friendly not too hostile- and always in the area.
Excellent experience -definitely to be repeated!!!
came to try this place.
it's a blend of dishes from central and south america.
most of the stuff was good I ordered beef empanada and got a chicken one eventually. If someone likes chicken I guess he will like the Venezuela style chicken empanada.... the mexican food was much better.
it's an OK place. if you're around worth trying
We had the lunch combo. found it to be one of the best values for only 8.95$ we had the teryaki combo and it included beef or chicken teriyaki, salad, misu soup, tempura, California roll, daily special ( raw salmon). the food was good, the service very good.
it's more price ( and the place looks like a pricey one) in the evening.
I had lunch there. the place is clean. the manager (?)/cook/server
was nice and friendly. the food is not expensive and was good. I ate in other Ethiopian restaurants and I think few of them were better. but I felt here in some of the meat dishes they are closer to the country dishes of raw-medium cooked meat. I had the veggi plate- all the four dishes were good. the Injara on the plate was cold and that wasn't very tasty to and the meal with it. to conclude- it's OK if you're around, but I wouldn't travel from far for this restaurant.
surprizing place- from just passing on the street I would have never tried this place.
but reading here the recommendations- I had to try
and it was true- the Pita with the yogurt-garlic dip were delicious- we can finish with that, tried the Lahnajun- was very good
the iskender kebab beef or chicken was good too.
the only bit dissapointing plate was something called "the sultan.." with beef and eggplants..
but- definitely a place to return to.
So- we tried 3 dishes.
the chicken tikka was good
the butter chicken was very good.
also good and were enjoyable by the kids (small ones)
the sikkh Kebab- was a little bit without spices. I had much better in other cuisines. but the portion was generous.
we paid all together less then 27$
defenitily well worth the money.
After reading good reviews went here and found it very hard to comment. Before I say anything I must say- I've been in Peru, and never found their cuisine as a very good one. I don't eat ceviche or other fish- so I might missed the main idea..
It was mid0 week lunch time- alll except 2 were latin Americans so- I guess that says something about the oriniality of the place. The manager is a very nice guy so the service was good.
The chilean empanadas were good, so was the yuca ( don't remember the name)- but the portion was very small.
we took pollo frito ( fried chicken)- never to take again- there was hardly any chicken on the bones- there was crust around the bones- but hardly any chicken.
the lomo saltado was better- but again- it's not that cheap that they need to use the worst pieces of beef. the corn juice was good...
so in general it's not a bad place- a better selection of meat/chicken would have improve the place.
If i'll ever come again- only if I'm in the area and interested in an empanada....
It's my second time here. most of the main dishes are between 11-15$. so the price category should be changed.
If you are not a fish eater- your choices are very limited- so you might consider a different restaurant. but still- our beef stew ( Rondang- something like this) was excellent. so was the vegetable dish, and the Roti with currey souce. everything was great. nice atmosphere in the place and service that checks up on you- but not bothering you too much!
well- I finally arrived one of the lowest points of my search for a decent falafel in metro vancouver. this was really poor food. of course the falafel balls were microwave heated. I think I have suspected the poor falafel to come- just from looking at the shawarma color on the sticks. there was no flavour to the added sauce. the vegis that were added were very "tired" looking. after the visit I had too go and buy some choclate bar to sweeten the experience. not coming back here- and that's for sure!
Read previous reviews, and had to find the chance to try it.
in this little place- where only take out is possible,
we had a delicious pizza.. it's a good idea to phone them ahead,
but if the weather is good- you can always stroll in the surrounding area while waiting, and you can have the pizza on the grass area near opposite the place- as you can see- some people choose to do.
The pizza is really one of the best I had in a long time- well worth to come back!
I'm getting used to have a microwave falafel balls. so it wasn't good ones, the pita bread was dry, there where no really interseting additions to the falafel. so far it's the worst place that I have had falafel in....
and I have to reach 3000 characters in order to worn others from this place
so don't go there ( although many people are eating there)!
don't go!
don't
ate one of the beef dishes.
it was good. the owner was super friendly. and was checking that I know how to eat with my hands... :)
the prices in general were a little bit higher than it's neighbors at the red sea caffe.. and in addition on another occasion I came by at 2:00pm and the place was closed- so maybe phoning in advance to check that it's open would be a wise thing to do.
as I'm continue to look for the best Falafel place I came into this place.
The falafel was OK in the vancouver terms.
this place so far has the best chance to become a real falafel place- which means frying the Falafel ball on the spot- they need to be crispy and not microwave heat.
I saw quite a traffic of customers while I was eating here- so maybe the owner will decide- at least at lunch time to let us enjoy a real crispy falafel. so people who are coming from the area can feel they are close to the real thing too...
good value sandwitches for a reasonable price.
very busy place.
even half sub can make you go happy from there.
That's what I wanted to say. but unfortunatly it doesn't get to 300 words.. so I have to add this comment
and that comment..
and soon I will update you how I'm doing a falafel check around the city- looking for the best in town
Our favourite place for Teriyaki combos.
You can find yourself enjoying a good combo for less then 10$.
For sushi you might want to head for some other locations. but if you are interested in something else then sushi. that might be a very good place to start with.
visited there last week- 3 adults shared the vegi. plate for 3 that was recommended on this web site. that gave us 6/7 of their vegi. dishes- they were all good- the ocra and the lentil ones were the best to my opinion. the kids had the mild chicken. it was good.
I would say that I liked the food in Harambe a bit more- but there I had meat... so it's a problem to compare.
I probably come here again- the atmosphere was relaxed. and the food in general was good
chicken Tikka was good, butter chicken was good tooo, the lamb dish was with too much fat, naan was OK, especially the one with the cauliflower. the service began as very slow, and once the food was served, they came every 2 minutes to ask if we're fine etc'- and it was on the edge of disturbing.
I like the one in downtown better
We ate in the buffet. the food was OK- not to die for, but Ok.
most of the plates to take were vegiterian, except for butter chicken and another chicken plate. it's good for the value of the money paid there, but I can still find better east indian food places for the same offer.
in short- I've tried it. didn't like it.
there are other Japanese restaurants at the same price range, which are far better.
we tried our usual foor like beef teriyaki and it wasn't good, some sushi- wasn't a hit too... so we'll skip it the next time.
