Unlike most Japanese restaurants in Richmond, Gyo-o and fully Japanese operated and it shows in the food and the decoration. Donburi is what I ordered from Gyo-o most of the time. For the standard size, the price range from $10 to 30 each, with satisfying portion and quality. Their chicken karaage is one of the best I have ever had, and since they introduced their lunch special several months ago, for less than $10, and comes with fish donburi, grilled mackerel, seaweed, and oden, it is very good value. Gyo-o is located in the same plaza as ramen house, G-men, also owned by the Gyoza-King Group. I don't know why G-men's always more packed than Gyo-o, because for the food and value, Gyo-o is better in every way.

Had a plate of sweet & sour rib meal there today for $5.99 before tax. It comes with boiled broccolis on the side, the meat was very well made, coupled with delicious sauce for the rice. The food is above average even compared to most bubble tea places in Richmond. Service was friendly and attentive. This is not my first time here. I am definitely a returning customer!
