Went with the wife for an anniversary dinner. Food was delicious, service impeccable, and portions generous. We went because of all the wonderful reviews. I'm not a big fan of French food, but it was very tasty. Definitely recommend it. The garlic mayo dipping sauce for the frites was delicious. We were able to secure an early reservation and managed to finish before the allotted time allowance.
It's best to get to the restaurant and order your dishes before 11am. Prices go up after that. The food was good, but not as much variety as I'm used to. Also since the carts aren't rolling around it's not as rich as experience as I've had in the past. Afterall, you look at some dishes they look good, so you order them. We had a big group and ordered so many dishes that we had to call some more friends to come and eat.
Recently went for a birthday dinner and was very disappointed. Our experiences with the "new" Keg on Willingdon was great, good service, good food, ambiance, etc. but the New West location isn't the same. Our server was nice, but did not know anything about what was in the food nor did he have any common sense. The oddest thing about the building is that it's in a constant state of vibration which was strange considering there were no trains passing by. We asked the server about the shaking and he didn't seem too interested in finding out why. My wife also found a plastic bread tie in her fajita and the server took it said sorry, but that was the last we heard. No manager came by to find out more, nor were we comp'ed anything for our inconvenience. I ordered the Ahi Tuna, and for a seared steak it was the most fibrous piece of "raw" tuna I've ever had. My other experiences with the Keg have been good, too bad this one doesn't stack up.
We live in the neighbourhood and the donairs have been very good; however, in recent months it's difficult to find the place open. Mr. Ben has been on extended vacation and his replacement isn't nearly as good as the original. We hope that Mr. Ben comes back soon and has hours that are more regular.
