Very Nice

This was our first visit to Lift, and had a very pleasant surprise. We had been a little reticent, due to some less-than-stellar reviews online. We came early for our brunch reservation, and they were able to accommodate us, even though the restaurant was quite busy. The restaurant is especially wonderful in its ambience; waterfront dining, right on coal harbour. We even saw some little boats sporting about in the waves. The food was good; standard west-coast fare, prepared well, and presented beautifully. The pricing was also quite good; especially the brunch, which was ~19 dollars for a wide selection of very fresh, tasty good. Our server was busy, but reasonably attentive; he was aware it was busy, and apologized for any inconvenience. The manager and host were excellent, and capably handled our bags and seating.

Very nice meal, very good prices, very good service. I might suggest that some of the reviews complaining about the service might be have had a much better time if they had more time and maybe visited off-peak hours.

Excellent Value, Excellent Food

I heard about this place being newly renovated, so my partner and I decided to give it a try. We came in for an early dinner, around 5 on Saturday, and were promptly seated.

The menu was large, with a wide variety of different types of Thai food - based on the (numerous) other Thai restaurants I've been to, I'd say they have a decent selection, with most of the "traditional" bases covered with innovative or uncommon options (Squid w. egg noodles, anyone?). Prices for individual dishes were very good, and the combos were an especially good deal (basically 2 entrees, 2 appetizers, etc for 15$ per person).

Drink selection was broad; a good selection of beers, and wines, and a large number of non-alcohoic options. No cocktails, though, despite there being a bar in the restaurant. Prices were much better than many restaurants, esp. in downtown New West.

Ambience was very good; clean, "modern Thai" decor with dark wood, muted lighting, and golden Thai accents on the walls. Similar to the more upscale "Urban Thai" restaurants in Yaletown or Vancouver. HUGE room (probably seats 80 people, full) but made more intimate with a large number of spacious booths and nicely placed screens.

We ordered the chicken satay, black bean stir fry with prawns, and a beef red curry. Satay was nicely done, and the peanut sauce was EXCELLENT; definitely a winner there. I enjoyed the stir fry, which was generous with the prawns, and had a nice assortment of very fresh vegetables. Curry was also well done, with a good level of spicyness, and fresh veggies / meat. Jasmine rice was tender and seperately nice; very good! Overall, food was excellent. Service was attentive and pleasant, but not intrusive; zero complaints, there.

Overall, and excellent experience and definitely somewhere to return to. Very classy, excellent food, and the price was EXTREMELY affordable; I believe the entire meal, including alcohol and tips for 2, was only 45$.
