(please note this review is for the Blanshard downtown location not the one in Oak Bay on Fort)
This is hands down my favorite place to go for lunch. For about ten dollars you get your choice of three main plates (thai red curry, pad thai, or a vegetable with cashew stir fry type dish) with rice, spring rolls and soup to start.
The soup is fairly plain but still very enjoyable. Maybe a vegetable broth? which comes out quickly after ordering. By the time i'm about half way through my main has arrived with two spring rolls. I always get lunch combo B that is the vegetable cashew stir fry. The sauce is a chili garlic sweet but almost sour amazing creation. The spring rolls are always good but sometimes depending on the plate placement can get soggy. The dip they come with is also great. My lunch date friend is a red curry fan so whenever we go she winds up with that (possibly lunch combo A?).
The two girls who serve there are always so friendly and i've never had any problems with them. I usually wind up having three glasses of water because they are so prompt to fill up my glass. I love the decor of the restaurant its thai themed without being overboard.
With all of that being said I go for lunch time. I arrive at 11:50 or 12:45 (12 it is instantly packed Monday-Friday). I've heard the dinner menu is different as Thai style eating is shared eating. But it is my favorite place to go for lunch and I highly recommend giving it a try!!!!!

Great treats and breads. The vegan brownies are delicious as well as almost everything else. I purchased a strawberry apple (I believe...) pie from there for a dinner party and it was a huge hit.
I've gotten rosemary garlic focaccia bread from there many times and its always constantly good. They also make different loafs of bread every day the schedule is here http://www.rebarmodernfood.com/cascadia.html if you were interested.
If you make it in time (before 10am typically) they have amazing breakfast sandwiches made on english muffins with a fried egg, cheese, and meatless pepperoni thats surprisingly good! All breakfast items disappear once office workers arrive at coffee time so be there early!
Soups and paninis at lunch are also yummy but haven't wowed me as much as the treats as they are always slightly odd combos.
Staff are always very friendly, but if you were looking for a place to sit and eat i'd recommend going to Rebar as they serve the exact same stuff and owner plus more lunch items and have a place for you to sit!

I am a huge fan of the blue fox but believe my review should first point out a few things that people considering a visit there should know:
1. Odds are you will wait in line at least 10 minutes.
2. Its close quarters in there and it can be a little noisy.
3. The person who seats you takes your drink order but nothing else. A system I've always found a little odd but it works for them?? The servers are always running off their feet busy so there can be waits at times just depends who you get!
All of that being said i've always really enjoyed my late breakfasts/lunches there so I think its worth waiting and being squished for. 90% of the time I get the Cajun chicken sandwich and its amazing but super filling as theres a breast of chicken plus bacon and avocado and all the typical fixings. The chipotle mayo does make it a touch spicy but after my first visit i've just asked for it to be minimally applied and the kitchen staff are always more than happy to accommodate.
The decor is very eclectic like different salt and pepper shakers at each table, colourful odd art, etc. Thats just part of the blue fox charm!

I'd recommend it as a dependable place to grab a quick lunch or a good place to refuel if you were shopping in the area. They make good sandwiches (I've had the blt and tuna melt both consistently good in my opinion). Its not necessarily top on my list of places i'd make as a destination lunch as the seating area is limited. It is great location for people watching tho as theres a row of stools along the window.
