A family-run creperie!
Submitted Friday, October 10, 2008 - 6:27pm [Dine in]

My friend brought me here, and I recommend this place for any crepe enthusiast.

This is the place for sweet crepes, that I know for sure.

Delicious, solidly priced, and family-run. The family that works here is so friendly and darling.

Great for a very casual lunch when you're walking around 4th, and it's such a charming place!

Just wrong on so many levels....
Submitted Friday, October 10, 2008 - 6:23pm [Dine in]

The last time I went had me convinced never to go back again.

I had their tuna salad, and it was basically store-bought mixed greens and canned tuna (that was still can-shaped, might I add) dumped on top, with a couple olives and a slice or two of tomato.

To add insult to injury, the crepe, appropriately their main dish, was served lukewarm.

The worst part was that it was a dark chocolate crepe, but by the time it arrived at our table it had dried up, and the crepe must have had been sitting around for a good fifteen minutes without any warmer light.

Service wasn't great -- we were lucky enough to have a server who was patient, and apologetic after the wait for our food.

What does suck for her though is that all tips are pooled, so that they are distributed evenly to all the servers at the end of the day. This could explain why service here tends to disappoint most reviewers.

Bottom line: Not coming back for a very long time.

Love !
Submitted Friday, October 10, 2008 - 6:04pm [Dine in]

I absolutely love Yuji's Japanese Tapas !
Fresh with a twist to each dish. I had my family try the raw oysters there and they loved them (except for my Mum, who can't stomach any raw seafood).

Prices are moderate to high, but I enjoyed the food here so much that I wouldn't mind going back!

This is Kits food at its best, and another place that can't be missed along 4th.

So worth the wait!

My mom took me here for my birthday over the summer and I loved every bit of it.

Very small space and difficult to find if you don't know the nooks and crannies of Kerrisdale, but the best kept secret of Kerrisdale.

I love their pressed sushi, but everything there is worth trying (except for maybe natto, but that's just a preferential thing....)

They can do no wrong, except that they are closed on Mondays, I believe. Make sure you check their opening hours, I've often been disappointed to find that they are closed during lunch!

Price wise, it is definitely more expensive than something like Sushi King House and most other sushi joints around the Kerrisdale area. That being said, you can expect actual authentic, and delicious food here.

I hear great things about their seafood salad, and I'll be sure to try it out the next time I go.

Great...!
Submitted Friday, October 10, 2008 - 5:55pm [Dine in]

I read about the reviews and so I knew about the refills beforehand (we asked about them anyway).

We were served samples of all three types of chai that they had which were amazing!

I had a chance to try many of the dishes and if there is one thing you can't miss out on, it's the Mango Butter Squash. It is divine and hits all the right notes.

When I go back, however, I'll probably skip out on the Baked Eggplant. Eggplant tends to absorb oil very easily and I found this dish a little too greasy for my tastes.

Ambiance is lovely and they have a little woman who washes dishes in the back (on your way to the washroom).

Fassil Ethiopian Restaurant736 East Broadway, Unit 5, Vancouver
First time for Ethiopian....
Submitted Friday, October 10, 2008 - 5:44pm [Dine in]

I love Fassil, simple as that.

The food was great, and it was the first time I had Ethiopian food, so the server (who also happened to be our chef), gave us excellent suggestions for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians (the platters, mm!).

Service was impeccable. Humble and very friendly, our server told us a lot about the food, how it's prepared here versus in Ethiopia, and guided us through the meal (how to eat using injera as your utensils)!

The ambiance leaves nothing to be desired, but this is a wonderful restaurant for anyone eager to try authentic Ethiopian food.

Vegetarian food done right!
Submitted Friday, October 10, 2008 - 5:35pm [Dine in]

I was hesitant to go to the Naam after my first experience over a year ago, but I'm glad I did. I haven't had any negative experiences with the servers, and most of the time they are attentive and very friendly. It is true, however, that service can be a bit slow especially when it gets busy. I love the Naam dragon bowl, and my mom (non-vegetarian) is a huge fan of their pizza. Naam nachos are fine, but not really rave-worthy. I love their miso dressing, and last time they packed some for me with my leftovers :-) Portions are generous and the atmosphere is great, especially in the summertime!
