Great tasty viet sandwiches, but the rest is so-so.

Be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes for a table! I recommend phoning for takeout before 12pm...and this only applies to their tasty vietnamese subs, usually sold out by 1pm onwards. It's everything you want in a sub in terms of freshness, flavor crispy bread with soft cetre...pretty fantastic. You will not get it this good anywhere else in Vancouver, trust me. It does cost a bit more, maybe a 50-75 cents more per sub. If you ask really nice, they might allow you to pick up sub orders later in the day but you have to order in the morning and basically be regular / recognizable customer.

The rest of their menu (pho, curry, lemongrass chicken, etc.) are so-so and rather bland, and their portions on the skimpy side in comparison to other vietnamese restaurants. Feeling rather thirsty afterwards? Probably lots of MSG, which does NOT improve on the food's blandness.

I personally think they should probably just stick to selling subs, vietnamese coffees and maybe their spring rolls all day long and just scrap the rest of their menu. I heard the problem is they can't order enough of this bread from this special bakery...that's why they can't sell all day long subs, and ordering from a less than fabulous bakery will scale down the product a bit.

The place is a tiny 10 tables, ambiance best described as grandma's filipino / asian kitchen from the '80s and the service is always playing catch up so you will not get much eye contact (they know you're waving at them...they're just too busy to make it over to you right now).

Go there...for takeout subs only! Sit down to eat if you have at least 1.5-2 hours to spare.
