Contemporary by day, romantic by night
Submitted Thursday, December 10, 2009 - 4:24pm [Dine in]

Came in to dot after a few friends raved about the desserts. It was small but cozy. The chairs were a little uncomfortable but we came for their parfaits and not furniture.

We ordered a Matcha, Blacksesame and Mandarin Peach parfait to share. When we saw the parfaits we were blown away and took out our cameras to start taking pictures! Each was very nicely decorated, you could see each layer and it was all very colourful and inviting. Best part is? It tasted as good as it looked. Another friend also ordered a cinnamon crepe and was recommended to add a scoop of vanilla icecream to it and the result was delicious. The crepe was chewy, not crunchy, and the vanilla icecream added a nice texture and mixed perfectly with the cinnamon - also toning down the sugar.

I would definitely come back with more friends in the day for a quick get together or lunch since I noticed they also served sandwiches and they look delicious. Like a japadog, but with chicken or beef teriyaki - if not, i would come in just to use their wifi, since their drinks are fairly cheap also. At night though, dot transfroms from contemporary to romantic with the help a few candle lights.

Best Korean by far
Submitted Thursday, December 10, 2009 - 4:16pm [Dine in]

I've been to quite a few korena restraunts in vancouver and i would say jangmojib is by far the best I have had in vancouver. I went with a few korena freinds and they knew exactly what to order and everything was delicious. We had the korean seafood pancake, jap chae, steamed dumplings and a pork bone soup that came with rice, and a lot of side dishes. The soup wasn't too spicy but perfectly flavourful and the pork meat literally fell off the bone and was soft but not dry.
I would defintitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an authentic style korean dinner, one bad thing is that looking for parking in DOwntown vancouver might take awhile.

Quick and Cheap
Submitted Thursday, December 10, 2009 - 4:11pm [Dine in]

If your'e looking for something really quick, filling, and fairly cheap, e-canteen is your place. My friends always go by here for a bite after a study session. Apparence wise they look more or less like any other hk style cafe - same with their menu.
Perk is, any food item on their menu, comes with a free drink. My favourite is their baked seafood rice. You get a lot of seafood and portions are big enough to share.

Unlimited sashimi?!
Submitted Thursday, December 10, 2009 - 3:55pm [Dine in]

My friends and I went to Tomokazu for the first time -for the deluxe ayce menu - a couple nights ago and I agree with the majoirty of reviews.

It's not an amazing-oh-my-god-this-is-the best sushi restraunt, but its decent and a bit better than the other chains such as SuiShaYa or Richmond sushi. However, what does make me want to return to Tomokazu is the, literally all you can eat sashimi. There is no limit on the sashimi and there is raw oysters on the deluxe menu. Price wise, I say it's decent since there was a nice variety of items and we probably ate more than 26$ worth of sashimi. we paid around 26$ each not including tips.

Ambiance is okay, its not loud and we were seated in a booth with offered a decent view of west broadway.

overall, if you have an insane craving for raw fish, tomokazu is your place.
