Anton's Pasta Bar4260 E Hastings Street, Burnaby
Not sure if they know what sanitary means...

I am a big pasta lover and Anton's was on my to go list ..that is until I ordered takeout one day with my BFF. As usual, dinner time is always busy and there would be lineups outside the door. So we decided to order takeout and had a drink by the bar. We were just sitting there, waiting, watching waitresses go about their duties. I believe it was almost closing time so they had to count their tip jar by the bar. Here we are, sitting and looking, not even a metre away, as she decides to grab the long spoon from the jug and proceeds to scoop out the tips from the tip jar. Mind you, there were quite a few BILLS in there and change. After she's done, she puts back into the jar full of spoons(which I presume we're clean as there were a bundle of them sitting by the counter) as if it were no biggie. Now, we ALL know just how dirty money is....but I guess she didn't. Last drink I'll ever order from there again! And last visit.

I usually dine in this restaurant whenever I am by this secluded neighborhood. Perhaps this is why they are never really busy, which is a shame because they have great selection for the menu and great prices AND huge portions. They've recently renovated which makes the atmosphere so much more enjoyable with the beautiful summer colors. The service was prompt and the waiters are friendly to have a conversation with. The food comes in great portions with same value of price. My usual favourites are the deep fried spicy squid, the wonton noodle soup and especially the egg rolls. There is also a banquet hall for those who want to host a party for any special occasion.

Decided to try this restaurant out because the menu looked pretty decent. Arrived and the atmosphere was really nice. Ordered the shrimp as a starter which was delicious and the mushroom ravioli, which was quite filling, even though there was 6 pieces of the pasta. However, the one thing that ruined the whole evening was the service. VERY disappointed. The appetizer came out quick in the beginning but waiting for the main course took 30 minutes. The table next to us was seated later than us but got their main course way before we did?! The food was pricier than the value of the food. Needless to say, that was the first and LAST time ever going to this restaurant.
