I've had varying experiences at Demitasse whenever I've strayed from the couple of things that are tried and true. Once there was a very long hair in my bowl of soup which not only put me off the restaurant, but soup as a food group for some time. Then it changed hands and was no longer Demitasse, but now it's back. There are a couple of dishes that are truly yummy there and those are the steam scrambled eggs. They actually steam them with an espresso machine steamer, so the eggs end up cooked all the way through, but are fluffy and moist (without that nasty snotty white stuff in it). These with cheese and their house made salsa is great, but what's even better than the plain eggs, are when you add these to a croissant. I'm not a morning person and these make me happy to think about breakfast! The coffee is good and always fresh and the lemon squares and brownies (which taste suspiciously a lot like Cascade Bakery's) are fabulous!

Ok, I just have to say to those that weren't impressed by Beacon Drive-In, you're right, if you've heard glowing reports about it and went to it with high expectations, you will be let down. However, that being said, it is nostalgic Victoria, this is like a walk down memory lane for many of us as it's been around since well before I came into this world. If you're expecting something fantastic like a great burger or something, this isn't the place where you'll get the best burger in town, but every time I taste their "real" ice cream, it evokes memories of being a kid and feeding the ducks in Beacon Hill Park. That's what makes this little gem truly priceless to the true locals!
